One Year After the Oku-Noto Heavy Rain: FOOBOUR Begins Its Journey in Wajima City
On September 21, 2025, the FOOBOUR project will officially launch its food truck initiative in Wajima City, Ishikawa Prefecture. This initiative aims to support single-parent families in the area, one year following the devastating Oku-Noto heavy rain disaster that struck in September 2024. The project is organized by the Peaceboat Disaster Relief Center (PBV), a Tokyo-based organization aimed at providing ongoing food assistance to single-parent households both during normal times and in emergencies.
The FOOBOUR Project: A Safe Harbor for Food Assistance
Named after a combination of “Food” and “Harbour,” the FOOBOUR project serves as a central hub for families in need of nourishment. With a goal of aiding 100 to 200 single-parent households each month, FOOBOUR provides essential items such as food and daily necessities. In emergency situations, it steps up to deliver up to 2,000 warm meals daily to disaster-stricken areas within Japan.
This initiative is designed to bring relief to families grappling with the psychological and financial burdens brought on by disasters. FOOBOUR is committed to generating a little more joy in the lives of these families, making their struggles a bit easier to bear.
Inauguration of FOOBOUR - Wajima Port
Starting in October 2025, FOOBOUR - Wajima Port will commence operations. The food truck will be freely accessible for single-parent families, allowing them to collect donated items at their convenience, 24 hours a day, without worrying about prying eyes or time constraints. During the unveiling event for this food truck, attendees will get the chance to explore what the interior looks like.
