Cleanmen A Team Triumphs in Sports GOMI World Cup 2025 Tokyo Stage

On July 26, 2025, the Tokyo Stage of the Sports GOMI World Cup 2025 took place at the Tokyo International Exchange Center (Plaza Heisei). Organized by the Japan Foundation Sports GOMI Federation, the event featured 39 teams and 116 participants, with the Cleanmen A Team being crowned champions by collecting an impressive 16.81kg of rubbish, earning a total of 2,148.9 points.

Sports GOMI, a combination of sports and rubbish collection, requires teams of three to collect waste in a designated area within a limited time of 60 minutes. Points are awarded based on the weight and type of rubbish collected, making the competition both challenging and impactful. The International Sports GOMI World Cup aims to promote global awareness and participation in activities aimed at reducing marine debris, creating opportunities for participants of all ages to contribute towards a cleaner environment.

The Cleanmen A Team’s success in the Tokyo Stage has garnered significant attention and anticipation as they prepare for the upcoming Japanese Stage of the World Cup, set for September 21, 2025. The team had previously expressed their determination to win, stating, “We are absolutely going to win!”—a claim they proved true with their exceptional performance.

The Tokyo Stage witnessed a total collection of 131.01kg of waste, featuring participants ranging from ages 4 to 68. The inclusivity of the event was heartening, as children joyfully exclaimed
