Collaborative Research on AI-based M&A Matching



Introduction


The world of mergers and acquisitions (M&A) is evolving rapidly, with technological advancements reshaping the landscape. Strike Corporation, a prominent M&A intermediary based in Tokyo, has partnered with leading institutions, including the University of Tokyo, Oita University, and UTEC (the University of Tokyo Edge Capital Partners), to launch an innovative research project aimed at creating an AI-driven approach to M&A matching using intellectual property (IP) data. This collaborative research is set to commence on December 1, 2025, and will run through March 31, 2028.

Objectives of the Collaborative Research


This joint project will leverage Japan's domestic and international patent data, combined with global M&A case study data, to develop an advanced Large Language Model (LLM) Agent system. The system will automatically generate a long list of potential M&A targets for technology companies, providing clear explanations for each candidate selection using methodologies such as the
