National Certification Corporation Announces New Board of Directors for 2025

On January 22, 2025, the National Certification Corporation (NCC) proudly revealed the results of its recent election for the Board of Directors and Officers. This crucial election involved directors being chosen through a voting process, while the Board subsequently appointed the officers. The leadership lineup features both new and returning members dedicated to enhancing the organization's mission in healthcare certification.

New and Returning Directors

Among the notable appointments is Dr. Carol Wallman, who has been re-appointed as the President of NCC. With a robust background in neonatal care, Dr. Wallman is currently an Associate Professor and Coordinator of the Nurse Practitioner (NNP) Program at Regis University located in Denver, Colorado. Her extensive educational credentials include a Doctorate of Nursing Practice from Regis University and a Master’s in Nursing from the University of Colorado.

Another significant appointment belongs to Dr. Beth R. Steinfeld, who was re-elected to the board and will continue her role as Vice-President. Dr. Steinfeld serves as the Chair of Advanced Level Nursing Programs at SUNY Downstate Medical Center in Brooklyn, New York. Her professional focus on women's health is underscored by her Doctorate from Wilkes University and her extensive clinical experience.

NCC’s financial and operational responsibilities will be managed by Tonnyann T. Swinton, who has been reappointed as the Secretary-Treasurer. Ms. Swinton has been an asset to NCC as the AVP of Clinical Education at HCA Healthcare in Nashville, Tennessee, holding a Doctorate and Masters’ degree from the University of South Alabama.

Board Members with Diverse Expertise

The election also included several other key figures, such as Dr. Christopher Goodier, who was re-elected to the board. Dr. Goodier brings a wealth of experience as an Associate Professor in Maternal Fetal Medicine and Residency Program Director at the Medical University of South Carolina.

The NCC Board now counts Megan Gombold and Michelle Braun among its members, both of whom have been effective advocates for neonatal nursing education and practices. Gombold is recognized for her work as a Clinical Education Specialist, while Braun serves as the Assistant Nurse Manager in the NICU at Advent Health for Children.

Also making strides in representation is Carrissa Moody, who has been elected as the Certified Nurse Representative to the Nominating Committee. Moody, who works in a leadership capacity at Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital, underscores the importance of community outreach and nursing advocacy.

A new addition to the board is Meina Montalbano, who has been appointed as the Public Member. Montalbano’s diverse educational background, including a Master of Library Science, highlights the commitment of NCC to incorporate a breadth of perspectives in its governance structure.

The NCC, established in 1975, plays a pivotal role as a non-profit organization offering national certification for healthcare professionals specializing in obstetrics, gynecology, and neonatal care.
