Lassen Peak Announces Dean Kueter's Addition to Advisory Board for Enhanced Law Enforcement Relations

Lassen Peak Strengthens Its Advisory Board with Dean Kueter

Lassen Peak, a cutting-edge company based in Seattle, recently announced the appointment of Dean M. Kueter, Jr. to its advisory board. This strategic move aims to bolster the company’s ties with law enforcement agencies nationwide, leveraging Kueter’s extensive experience and relationships in the field of law enforcement.

Mr. Kueter is known for his pivotal role as the co-founder of Black Alpha International. His background includes significant contributions to federal law enforcement policies at various levels, making him a valuable asset for Lassen Peak. His expertise in federal relations coupled with his direct connections to sheriffs and police chiefs across the country positions the company favorably as it seeks to commercialize its advanced technologies aimed at law enforcement.

From 2019 to 2022, Kueter spearheaded the first comprehensive review of the American criminal justice system in over 50 years during a time when the U.S. was grappling with both the COVID-19 pandemic and widespread calls for police reform. This involved coordinating hundreds of experts to deliver an unprecedented report featuring over 150 recommendations, several of which focused on technology integration within law enforcement.

His tenure at the Department of Justice included advising two U.S. Attorneys General and founding a new division focused on state and local law enforcement coordination. Prior to this, Kueter served as chief of staff at the Office of Community Oriented Policing Services (COPS Office), administering significant federal grants for police technology procurement. Before his federal role, Kueter spent nearly a decade as the Director of Government Affairs at the National Sheriffs' Association, representing more than 3,000 elected sheriffs nationwide. His legislative efforts include the successful passage of the Bulletproof Vest Partnership Grant Act, which allocated over $573 million to equip police officers with protective vests.

Hatch Graham, co-founder and CEO of Lassen Peak, expressed enthusiasm for Kueter's appointment, stating, "Dean’s wealth of knowledge concerning federal policy, grant funding methods, and law enforcement operations will be invaluable as we prepare for our pilot projects with law enforcement agencies."

Kueter’s commitment to enhancing safety during police operations resonates with Lassen Peak's mission. He remarked, "I have dedicated my career to equipping law enforcement officers with the tools they need to perform their duties safely and effectively. The physical search remains one of the most dangerous moments in policing, both for officers and the communities they serve. Lassen Peak's technology symbolizes the innovative solutions envisioned by the President's Commission—solutions designed to elevate officer safety while respecting the constitutional rights of the communities they serve. I am honored to support this mission."

Lassen Peak is a pioneering company specializing in submillimeter wave technology, aimed at eliminating the inherent risks associated with physical searches in modern policing. The company has assembled a diverse team of advisors and committee members, all of whom have held critical roles in leading U.S. law enforcement and civil rights organizations.

In the coming months, Lassen Peak looks forward to leveraging Dean Kueter's expertise as it rolls out pilot programs aimed at enhancing officer safety and community interactions. As the company continues to innovate and strive towards making law enforcement operations safer, the appointment of Dean Kueter signifies a notable step forward in fostering essential relationships within the law enforcement community.
