DAM Announces Summer 2025 Anime Theme Song Karaoke Rankings
Daiichikosho, the company behind the popular karaoke service DAM, has unveiled its rankings for the top 50 karaoke songs from anime theme songs broadcasted and streamed during the summer 2025 season. The rankings were compiled from a survey conducted between September 1 and September 30, 2025. Renowned music critic Akihiro Tomita shared his insights into the summer anime theme song rankings, highlighting the most popular tracks of the season.
Insights from Critic Akihiro Tomita
This summer anime season has been marked by an influx of popular and highly discussed sequels. The standout hit was undoubtedly the second season of ‘Dandadan,’ which saw the powerful song “Kakumei Douchuu” by Aina the End take the number one spot. Aina, known for her dramatic singing style, delivered a performance full of expressiveness, combining elements of drum and bass—a genre currently witnessing a global revival—along with a catchy chorus that invites audiences to join in. This song not only showcases the high quality typical of anime music, but also successfully includes elements that make it fun to sing along with friends.
Coming in at second place is the opening theme from the critically acclaimed series ‘Takopii no Genzai,’ titled “Happy Lucky Chappy.” This song, written and composed by Ayo-chan herself, addresses serious societal issues, and its emotionally charged structure, featuring numerous key changes peaking in the chorus, is likely to resonate with the younger audience eager to belt it out at karaoke.
Among the rankings, there’s also a notable appearance from popular J-Pop artist Vaundy and the well-received ELLEGARDEN, known for their first attempt at an anime tie-in. However, one particularly eye-catching entry is the fourth position song by Ebuhos Players, “Everyday Host,” the main theme from the series ‘Everyday Host.’ Crafted by Kiryuin Shou from the group Golden Bomber, this upbeat eurobeat song, full of exhilarating calls and performances from popular male voice actors, has a catchiness that could rival the hit “Memeshikute.” Its thirty-second television version makes it a practical choice for various settings.
On a personal note, a track that caught my attention is the 28th ranked theme song from ‘Galactic Express Milky Subway,’ titled “Fly to the Galaxy!” by Candies. It is quite rare for a legendary idol song to be featured as-is rather than a cover, marking an extraordinary case as it was revived as an anime song 48 years after its original release. This showcases how the definition of anime music is continuously evolving, highlighting an aggressive and thrilling trend within the rankings.
DAM Karaoke Campaign
In addition to the rankings, DAM will hold a karaoke singing campaign from October 10 to November 9, 2025, where participants have a chance to win original tumblers. Singing fans can participate by selecting songs from the top 50 rankings at participating DAM locations, ensuring a lively and engaging experience around the beloved anime songs.
