CollegeSource's Ninth Annual Transfer Week Webinar Series
CollegeSource, a leading provider of transfer and degree planning solutions, is hosting its ninth annual Transfer Week Webinar Series from October 19 to October 23, 2026. This event is held in conjunction with National Transfer Student Week and is themed "Building the Pathways Students Deserve." The series aims to unite transfer advocacy groups like Transfer Nation and higher education professionals to collaborate on developing effective strategies for student transfers, including workforce partnerships, dual enrollment, military credit, and minimizing transfer melt.
According to Kerry Cooper, the CEO of CollegeSource, the wisdom and insights shared among peers are invaluable, especially given the varied educational backgrounds of today's students. "Some of the most valuable ideas in transfer come from colleagues tackling the same challenges, especially as students bring more varied educational experiences to our campuses," he noted. This initiative provides a platform for sharing successful practices among institutions to enhance transfer student support.
One of the highlights includes a session titled "Tricks and Treats of Transfer Week," featuring Dr. Lauren Kaplan from Northern Virginia Community College and Jamie Blanch of Knox College. They will join CollegeSource's 'Let's Talk Transfer' hosts, Sarah Hatfield and Tim Horzmann, for an interactive discussion that will explore how institutions can effectively welcome and support transfer students from their initial contact through their entire campus experience.
The Transfer Week sessions will cover various topics, such as:
- - First in Flight, First in Partnership: Dr. Seth Marc Kamen from the North Carolina Community College System will discuss transfer and workforce partnerships.
- - Supporting the New Traditional Student: Representatives from St. Mary's College of Maryland will share lessons learned from dual enrollment growth.
- - Military Transfer Practices: Bren Shuler from Metropolitan State University of Denver will provide insights on handling military Joint Services Transcripts and other records.
- - Combating Transfer Melt: Emily Danger from Palmer College of Chiropractic will discuss strategies to prevent 'transfer melt'—a phenomenon where students plan to transfer but ultimately do not enroll.
In addition to the webinar series, CollegeSource invites higher education professionals to join "The Commons," a free online community dedicated to sharing resources and fostering ongoing conversations about transfer practices. This initiative aims to promote continuous improvement in supporting student transitions post-Transfer Week.
Each session is scheduled to begin daily at 2 PM ET, followed by live discussions on Zoom, where participants can engage with peers and address the questions raised during the presentations. Additionally, optional product demonstrations will be offered throughout the week, showcasing tools like TES®, Transferology®, uAchieve® Transfer Articulation, and Policy Central.
