Karpowership Unveils New 300 MW Sea Lion Class Powerships to Enhance Global Energy Solutions

Karpowership Expands Its Fleet with Innovative Sea Lion Class Powerships

Karpowership, a leader in the global energy sector, has reached a new milestone with the launch of the construction phase for its new line of 300 MW Sea Lion class Powerships. The steel-cutting ceremony took place at the HSG Sungdong shipyard located in South Korea, signaling the beginning of a significant enhancement to Karpowership's already robust fleet.

The event was attended by key executives, including Osman Murat Karadeniz, one of the founding partners and an executive board member of Karpowership, and Orhan Remzi Karadeniz, the CEO and another founding partner. They were joined by other senior officials from the company, emphasizing the importance of this project not only to the company but also to the global energy landscape.

Design and Capacity

These next-generation Powerships are engineered specifically to cater to the increasing energy demands of nations that require immediate and reliable electricity solutions. Each Sea Lion vessel will be equipped with three high-efficiency gas turbines arranged in a combined-cycle setup, allowing for improved fuel efficiency and reduced emissions compared to traditional land-based power plants. The physical dimensions of these vessels are impressive as well, measuring 136 meters in length and featuring a shallow draft of 4.5 meters, which broadens their deployment capabilities along various coastal areas.

The plan includes delivering the four Sea Lion class Powerships on a staggered schedule from January to May of 2028, adding significant capacity to the Karpowership fleet. This expansion strengthens Karpowership's position as a pivotal player in addressing global energy shortages, allowing for quick deployments to regions where power demands are acute.

Rapid Deployment and Flexibility

Karpowerships are essentially floating power plants that can be positioned directly offshore, equipped with multi-fuel generation systems and embedded substations. This unique configuration enables them to connect seamlessly to national electricity grids. One of the most notable benefits of Powership technology is their rapid deployment; they can commence electricity production in less than 30 days where necessary grid infrastructure is in place. This feature is critical for countries grappling with power shortages, as it offers a fast, flexible, and effective solution to boost energy security and facilitate economic development.

By adding the Sea Lion class to its existing lineup—which includes vessels categorized as Khan, Orca, Shark, Mermaid, Seal, and Whale class, ranging from 30 MW to 600 MW—Karpowership continues to enhance its versatile floating power fleet capable of catering to diverse electricity demands across multiple markets.
