2G Energy and CK Power Form Partnership for New Demand Response Generators in North America

2G Energy Announces Strategic Partnership with CK Power

2G Energy Inc., a key player in the combined heat and power (CHP) systems market and a subsidiary of 2G Energy AG from Heek, Germany, has made headlines with its latest strategic partnership with CK Power, a renowned provider of industrial engines and generator systems based in St. Louis, Missouri. This collaboration is poised to introduce a revolutionary line of Demand Response Spark-Ignited Rich Burn Industrial Generators to the North American market.

Leveraging Expertise in the Energy Sector

With CK Power's extensive experience in the design and manufacturing of power systems, this partnership gives 2G Energy the advantage of expanding its product reach. As part of the agreement, CK Power has secured exclusive rights to market, sell, and service this new generator line, enhancing 2G's positioning in the competitive energy landscape. The Demand Response generators are expected to commence pre-sales in late 2025, with deliveries set for early 2026.

The new generator series’ specifications include:
  • - Emergency Standby Power Rating: 620 kW, 60 Hz
  • - Limited Time Power Rating: 580 kW, 60 Hz
  • - Prime Power Rating: 530 kW, 60 Hz
  • - Certifications: UL2200, UL6200, NFPA 110
  • - Compliance: EPA and BlueSky emissions standards

These generators are built around a robust V12 gas engine, recognized for its reliability and efficiency, making it a game-changer for those needing flexible, grid-responsive power solutions.

Responding to Market Demand

As the demand for distributed energy resources continues to surge, particularly in the U.S. where the demand response market is rapidly evolving, 2G Energy's latest offerings cater precisely to this trend. The integration of renewable energy resources and the impact of regulations, such as the FERC Order 2222, are transforming demand response from an emergency tool into a crucial component of modern grid systems.

The projected growth of U.S. demand response capacity to over 35 GW by 2030 emphasizes the significance of 2G Energy’s new generators, which will be designed to integrate seamlessly with existing grid programs and virtual power plants. Initial models will be introduced in 2025, with additional higher capacity units anticipated in 2026, up to a capacity of 1,000 kW Prime, catering to various application requirements.

Commitment to Innovation

Pablo Hofelich, CEO of 2G Energy AG, highlighted CK Power's track record of exceptional customer service and their formidable presence in North America as pivotal reasons for selecting them as a partner. CK Power, which has a legacy dating back to 1929, specializes in high-performance power solutions across various industrial applications.

Clayton R. Costello, Co-CEO at CK Power, expressed enthusiasm about representing 2G Energy’s innovative product line, further stating their evolution from a local distributor to a national leader in power systems positions them to effectively introduce and support this new generator line across the continent.

Looking Forward

The partnership between 2G Energy and CK Power not only underscores their commitment to sustainable and innovative power solutions but also signifies a strategic move to strengthen their positions within the segmented demand response and distributed energy markets. As they embark on this journey, both companies look forward to delivering reliable, efficient, and responsive power systems that align with the future of energy management and usage.
