Artemis Defense Institute: Free Emergency Training for Community Preparedness

Community Preparedness with Free Emergency Training

In light of recent trends and incidents that highlight the importance of community readiness, the Artemis Defense Institute (ADI) is stepping up to make a difference. While recent FBI reports indicate a decrease in active shooter incidents nationally, any such event is too many for ADI. To embody their commitment to safety, ADI is offering a free emergency training session titled 'Preventive Defense Controlling Public Space', scheduled for September 13th at 9:00 AM via Zoom.

Addressing the Unpredictable

The training aims to cultivate a culture of preparedness within local communities. Cheers to the FBI's report of decline in recent years, it's crucial to remember that chaos can strike unexpectedly. Events such as the tragic shooting in Minneapolis on August 27, which resulted in the deaths of two children and left 21 individuals injured, serve as stark reminders of why these skills are essential. Similarly, the recent incident at Oxford Valley Mall reiterates the need to be equipped with the right knowledge and understanding of how to respond effectively to dangerous situations.

Essential Skills for Everyone

The hour-long session will focus on critical situational awareness skills applicable in any public environment. Attendees will learn how to effectively plan ahead before entering crowded spaces, how to establish a baseline rhythm by observing surroundings upon arrival, the importance of understanding the 'Position of Dominance' for optimal safety, and identifying 'Optimal Egress' pathways for safe exit strategies. These are fundamental skills that were once commonplace knowledge but have unfortunately faded in today’s fast-paced digital society.

According to Sandy Sunu-Lieberman, CEO of ADI, the goal is not to instill fear but rather to promote a sense of confidence and awareness.
