Seongnam City Makes a Statement at CES 2025

Seongnam City, recognized for its technological innovations, recently made headlines by dispatching the largest delegation to date at CES 2025, held from January 7 to 10 in Las Vegas. This unprecedented participation saw 41 companies representing the region, a significant achievement that underscores the city's commitment to fostering global expansion among local small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs).

The event kicked off with an opening ceremony at the Seongnam Pavilion, located in the Global Pavilion at the Venetian Expo, despite Mayor Shin Sang-jin's absence due to pressing economic challenges. In his place, Lee Eui-Jun, President of the Seongnam Industry Promotion Agency, along with Fred Jung, Mayor of Fullerton, California, attended to represent and promote the Seongnam Business Center.

In his keynote remarks, Lee emphasized the significance of the attendance, stating, "Seongnam has dispatched a record-breaking delegation of 41 companies, including exhibitors at the Seongnam Pavilion, to support the global expansion of Seongnam SMEs and startups actively." The pavilion served as a crucial platform for local enterprises aiming to penetrate international markets.

During CES 2025, Seongnam showcased 25 cutting-edge technologies ranging from artificial intelligence and healthcare to smart city solutions and mobility innovations. Notably, three Seongnam firms secured CES Innovation Awards, further accentuating the city's competitive edge on the global stage. Sky Labs Inc. was awarded for its innovative CART VITAL device, which allows multi-vital sign monitoring—a contribution vital for home healthcare. Additionally, BrainU Co., Ltd. received recognition for VET CAI, an EEG-based instrument designed for monitoring animal anesthesia, while ANDOPEN Co., Ltd. was honored for SNAPPASS, a next-gen two-step authentication system leveraging facial recognition technology.

To bolster their international presence, Seongnam City provided these companies with extensive support that covered various aspects of their participation, including:
  • - Financial assistance for award applications
  • - Coverage of booth rental and setup expenses
  • - Support for airfare and shipping costs
  • - On-site translation and promotional aid

As Seongnam City continues its vigorous campaign to enhance the global competitiveness of its businesses, it reaffirms its commitment to nurturing innovative enterprises and facilitating their expansion beyond domestic borders. This participation at CES 2025 is not just a testament to the city's capability but a clear message to the global market: Seongnam is ready and eager to innovate and collaborate on a grand scale.

The ecosystem surrounding Seongnam's tech industry demonstrates its readiness to compete and thrive internationally.
