Sumitomo Forestry Group Releases Sustainability Report 2026
On May 20, Sumitomo Forestry Co., Ltd. (President: Toshiro Mitsuyoshi, Head Office: Chiyoda, Tokyo) announced the publication of the "Sustainability Report 2026" on their official website. This report details their efforts aimed at contributing to a sustainable and rich society.
The 2026 report is comprehensive, catering to a range of stakeholders, including investors, and outlines the group’s sustainability activities. In particular, it highlights the numerical achievements against nine significant issues identified in their long-term vision, "Mission TREEING 2030," focusing on sustainability practices tied to business.
As part of the medium-term management plan, "Mission TREEING 2030 Phase 2" (2025-2027), which kicked off in 2025 under the theme of "three years of transformation towards explosive growth," the report presents ongoing initiatives designed to meet these targets. The "Sustainability Section of the Medium-Term Management Plan" takes a structured approach toward establishing numerical goals along with a commitment to further integrate business and ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) considerations.
To create a foundation for future goal-setting, the report includes a project for monitoring forest biodiversity and water resources. This initiative facilitates a quantitative evaluation of contributions towards becoming "nature-positive." Additionally, it enhances the "ESG Data Collection" by systematically organizing related metrics, improving accessibility and usability for various stakeholders.
Sumitomo Forestry is committed to advancing its initiatives toward achieving a nature-positive model and has started formulating a transition plan aimed at achieving carbon neutrality by 2050, with more detailed progress information on climate change and nature-related issues forthcoming.
