VIA Labs Unveils New Industrial-Grade USB Hub Controllers at Embedded World 2026

VIA Labs Introduces Cutting-Edge USB Hub Controllers at Embedded World 2026

In an exciting development at the Embedded World 2026 trade show, VIA Labs, Inc. (VLI) has announced the expansion of its industrial portfolio with the introduction of the VL819i USB 5 Gbps and VL822i USB 10 Gbps hub controllers. These products are designed to provide high-reliability applications for industrial partners, supporting advanced image processing, high-performance peripherals, displays, data acquisition, storage, and general connectivity needs.

High-Performance USB Hub Options

The new industrial-grade USB Hub Controllers were showcased after the successful launch of the VL122i STT and VL123i MTT USB 2.0 hubs earlier this year. The VL819i and VL822i hubs demonstrate improved signal integrity and energy-efficient design suitable for embedded systems, servers, industrial PCs, and advanced retail terminals—operating in temperature conditions ranging from -40 °C to +85 °C.

Availability of Two Configurations
The USB hubs come in two configurations. The Q7 standard version features a compact QFN76 package measuring 9 x 9 mm, optimized for USB-A downstream ports. In contrast, the Q8 version boasts a slightly larger QFN88 package at 10 x 10 mm, optimized for USB-C integration, including multiplexers (muxes) for upstream and two downstream ports. Importantly, both controllers share the same housing and pin layout, allowing developers to easily address various performance needs without needing multiple hardware designs.

Advanced Transaction Management

As explained by Eric WH. Cheng, product manager at VIA Labs, while individual device endpoints may not require a full 10 Gbps bandwidth, the VL822i USB 10 Gbps Hub Controller effectively utilizes Multiple-IN transactions. This feature helps overcome the basic round-robin scheduling limitations of USB 5 Gbps hubs, allowing the VL822i to nest requests and handle multiple simultaneous transactions when paired with a USB 10 Gbps host. This results in reduced latency at the system level and enhanced performance and responsiveness when operating multiple USB 5 Gbps devices.

Engaging with VIA Labs at Embedded World

Attendees at the Embedded World 2026 can visit VIA Labs at Booth 3-396 in Hall 3 from March 10 to 12 to explore further details about these innovative controller silicon products. VLI encourages partners interested in samples or further inquiries to connect with their local sales representatives or reach out via email at [email protected]

Conclusion

The launch of the VL819i and VL822i USB Hub Controllers marks a significant advancement for industrial connectivity solutions, offering robust performance alongside reliability across a range of temperature environments. This innovation positions VIA Labs at the forefront of USB technology, fulfilling the demanding needs of modern industrial applications.
