Vlightup Launches TRUSTAUTHY Beta, Elevating Crypto Security With Location-Based Authentication

Vlightup Launches TRUSTAUTHY Beta Version

In an exciting development for the cryptocurrency industry, Vlightup Inc., led by President Yoshio Minamoto, has officially launched the beta version of its groundbreaking security platform, TRUSTAUTHY. This innovative solution is designed specifically for cryptocurrency wallets and exchanges, incorporating location verification to bolster security. Vlightup is now inviting test users—including cryptocurrency exchanges, institutional investors, and DeFi projects—to participate in the beta testing phase.

The centerpiece of TRUSTAUTHY lies in its unique ability to combine satellite-based positioning information (GNSS) with hardware signatures from the device’s Trusted Execution Environment (TEE). This allows for an “tamper-proof location proof” that is unprecedented in the industry. Additionally, the system automatically adjusts the multi-signature threshold based on risk, establishing a new standard for security in cryptocurrency transactions.

Addressing Remote Hacking Challenges

The cryptocurrency sector has been on high alert due to a series of remote hacking incidents that led to considerable financial losses. In 2024, significant breaches were reported, including the unauthorized withdrawal of approximately 4,500 BTC (around $300 million) from a Japanese exchange. Furthermore, a notorious theft of 17,800 ETH (worth around $53.5 million) from Poloniex in late 2023 was confirmed to have been moved through Tornado Cash by May 2024. These two incidents alone highlight the vulnerability of the market, with losses totaling around $350 million, not counting additional smaller breaches.

The common thread in these attacks was the remote operation by hackers, who skillfully disguised their access as legitimate internal network activity through the use of VPNs and proxies. With compromised SSH keys and API credentials, attackers were able to extract private keys from hot wallets. While exchanges have strengthened their security protocols through rigorous KYC processes and multi-factor authentication (MFA) methods like SMS and TOTP, these measures have proven insufficient when adversaries can impersonate internal network access. This exposes the necessity for a zero-trust-based cryptographic framework that governs the use of private keys based on the signer’s presence, conditions, and behavior.

Vlightup's technology—GeoAuth and GeoMPC—addresses these vulnerabilities by providing a tamper-proof verification of physical location, effectively nullifying threats from both remote attacks and internal fraud.

Technology Features and User Experience

TRUSTAUTHY incorporates several integral technological features to enhance security and user experience:

1. GeoAuth (Token)

This feature cryptographically certifies real-time positioning information from a user’s device, permitting asset operations only from “approved locations.” The location data is tokenized with tamper-proof security, reinforcing the entire signing process.

2. GeoScore

Utilizing AI for behavioral scoring based on past transaction history, timing, and geographic data, GeoScore detects high-risk activities in real-time. Users can implement additional measures such as extra verification steps, defer transactions, or even block them if necessary.

3. GeoMPC

GeoMPC divides the private key into multiple segments so that signatures can only be executed when multiple devices meet specific geographic conditions. This adds an extra layer of security to signature executions, relying on both location and the number of devices involved.

Beta Program Details

Vlightup is offering its GeoAuth and GeoMPC beta program, which is set to run for approximately one month. This initiative primarily targets cryptocurrency exchanges, custodians, stablecoin issuers, and Web3 game developers. Participants will have free access to the following:

  • - TRUSTAUTHY platform API
  • - iOS version of the TRUSTAUTHY wallet via Test Flight

Key Benefits of Participation

Participants in the beta program can expect:
  • - Real-World Testing: Users will experience GeoAuth, GeoMPC, and GeoScore in actual use cases such as hot wallet replenishment and large OTC trading.
  • - Dedicated Support: Technical support will be available through dedicated chat services (such as Google Chat) for API integration and troubleshooting.
  • - Feedback Loop: Suggestions collected during the beta period will be prioritized for enhancements in the official release of version 1.0.

How to Join

Getting involved in this program is straightforward:
1. Submit your application via the registration form.
2. Expect a response within 24 hours from Vlightup.
3. Once the API integration is complete, beta testing can commence.

This program presents an invaluable opportunity for businesses to strengthen their security measures and enhance operational efficiencies. Don’t miss the chance to experience advanced “location-based” security firsthand.

Future Roadmap

Vlightup’s roadmap includes launching the official version 1.0 of GeoAuth × GeoMPC by Q2 2025. Subsequent phases will see API releases for popular L2 chains such as Solana and Sui in Q3 2025, expanding multi-chain capabilities.
