Workshop Promoting Environmental Awareness
On November 23, 2025, coinciding with Labor Thanksgiving Day, Open House Group collaborated with the Aeon Cheer Club to host an engaging workshop focused on environmental awareness and disaster preparedness at Aeon Mall Ota in Gunma Prefecture. This meaningful event, part of Open House's “Community Co-Creation” initiative, aimed to educate and inspire approximately 20 elementary school students who are members of the Aeon Cheer Club.
Engaging Activities with Construction Waste
During the workshop, the children learned about the use of construction waste—specifically, materials generated during home building. They engaged in a hands-on project where they crafted decorative photo frames from flooring and tile samples, as well as textiles used in furniture, showcasing their individuality and creativity. Each participant brought family photographs to personalize their frames, resulting in a display of unique designs that conveyed their appreciation for their working adults and family members.
The one-hour workshop emphasized the importance of repurposing discarded materials into valuable items, fostering a sense of gratitude and environmental consciousness among the children.
Building Connections Through Learning
Following the workshop, the kids visited Open House Group’s sales office located within the mall. There, they participated in an interactive quiz based on what they had learned during the workshop led by sales representatives. This engagement not only deepened their understanding of environmental issues and safety measures but also strengthened the connection between the students and professionals in the industry.
Voices of the Participants
Feedback from the participating children highlighted the impact of their experiences:
- - “I think it’s important to use materials that have lost their value to create something valuable.”
- - “I learned about safety measures and environmental initiatives that I didn’t understand from Open House advertisements.”
- - “I want to keep reimagining things that are no longer needed.”
These reflections illustrate the workshop's success in instilling a sense of responsibility and creativity in young minds.
