Introducing Shannon Cavallo as the New CFO of BL Companies, Driving Financial Strategy Forward

Shannon Cavallo Takes the Helm as CFO of BL Companies

BL Companies, a prominent employee-owned firm specializing in architecture, engineering, environmental services, and land surveying, has announced the appointment of Shannon Cavallo as its new Chief Financial Officer (CFO). This strategic move aims to enhance the firm's operational efficiencies and drive sustainable growth in an increasingly competitive industry.

Cavallo joins BL Companies with a diverse background that encompasses sectors such as manufacturing, utilities, banking, and nonprofits. Her multifaceted experience has established her as a leader capable of translating intricate data and information into actionable business strategies. In her new role, she is tasked with transforming financial and operational data into valuable insights that will inform decision-making and empower teams across the organization.

According to Carolyn Stanworth, President and CEO of BL Companies, Cavallo’s blend of expertise and leadership qualities make her a perfect fit for the CFO role. “Shannon not only possesses the intelligence and skills necessary for this position but also embodies a team-first mentality. Her commitment to enhancing the lives of those around her is what truly stands out,” stated Stanworth. Cavallo's dedication to supporting her colleagues, students, and mentees reflects her holistic approach to leadership, emphasizing collaboration and community growth.

Currently, Cavallo serves as an adjunct professor in business intelligence and data analytics at Post University. In this role, she is instrumental in training the next generation of professionals to effectively apply data analysis and visualization in real-world business settings. Alongside her teaching responsibilities, she plays an active role in her community as an elected member of the Region 15 Board of Education, where she chairs the Financial and Facilities Committee. Her volunteer work with local organizations that support families and children further demonstrates her commitment to meaningful community involvement.

One of Cavallo’s passions lies in the intersection of numbers and strategy, effectively narrating stories through data. Early in her professional journey, she expanded her skill set beyond traditional finance by delving into coding and data infrastructure. This unique perspective has helped her understand the processes of information collection, structuring, and analysis, which in turn fuels her interest in analytics and its critical role in business development.

Cavallo earned her undergraduate degree from the University of Connecticut, where her initial interest was in engineering before she found her true calling in accounting. With an MBA in Finance and completion of the Executive Education in Financial Excellence program from UConn, she is well-equipped to lead the financial department at BL Companies. Prior to this move, she served as the CFO at Goodwill of Western and Northern Connecticut and spent a decade at Webster Bank as the senior director, heading data analytics and technology enablement.

BL Companies prides itself on its employee-owned structure, ensuring that all stakeholders have a vested interest in the firm’s success. The organization has consistently ranked among the Top 500 Design Firms in the United States by Engineering News-Record, boasting a workforce of over 375 employee-owners across a variety of states, including Connecticut, Florida, and Texas. Cavallo’s leadership is expected to bolster the firm's continued expansion and innovation in the marketplace.

As BL Companies continues to navigate the challenges of a dynamic business landscape, Shannon Cavallo’s appointment as CFO marks a significant step forward in strengthening the company’s financial framework and strategic vision. With her wealth of experience and commitment to fostering a collaborative workplace, Cavallo is poised to guide BL Companies towards a prosperous future.
