United Airlines Expands Routes for Summer 2026

United Airlines is poised to broaden its international reach significantly in Summer 2026 by introducing nonstop flights to four exciting new cities: Split, Croatia; Bari, Italy; Glasgow, Scotland; and Santiago de Compostela, Spain. Notably, United will be the only U.S. airline providing direct flights to these destinations from its Newark/New York hub, enhancing its standing as a leader in transatlantic travel.

Noteworthy New Destinations

Split, Croatia

Starting April 30, 2026, travelers can fly directly to Split, a city rich in historic charm and natural beauty. Known for the ancient Roman Diocletian's Palace and the scenic Riva promenade, Split offers a unique blend of culture and adventure. The flights will operate three times weekly on a Boeing 767-300ER. This new route represents United's exclusive nonstop service from the U.S. to Split, paving the way for more American travelers to explore Croatia's stunning Dalmatian coast.

Bari, Italy

On May 1, 2026, United will also launch nonstop flights to Bari, making it the only U.S. airline to provide this service. Bari serves as a gateway to the picturesque Puglia region, famous for its stunning Adriatic beaches, charming hilltop towns, and historic architecture, including the iconic Trulli buildings. These flights will operate four times a week, also on a Boeing 767-300ER, facilitating easy access to one of Italy's most captivating regions.

Glasgow, Scotland

United is set to debut nonstop service to Glasgow on May 8, 2026, providing U.S. travelers with a convenient path to Scotland's cultural hub. This vibrant city, recognized for its friendly atmosphere and world-class museums, offers a plethora of experiences, from historical exploration to enjoying local music events. The flights will run daily, featuring the Boeing 737-MAX8.

Santiago de Compostela, Spain

Beginning May 22, 2026, United will introduce three weekly flights to Santiago de Compostela from Newark/New York. This marks the first regularly scheduled nonstop service between the U.S. and this historic Spanish city, known for its stunning cathedrals and being a significant pilgrimage site. United's commitment to expanding options to Spain is reflected in this strategic addition.

Expanding Service to Other Popular Cities

In addition to the new flights, United is reinforcing its existing routes by adding daily nonstop service between Washington-Dulles and Reykjavik, Iceland, starting on May 21, 2026. This will position United as the only airline offering lie-flat business class seats on this route, appealing to travelers seeking a more comfortable journey.

Moreover, the airline will launch nonstop flights between Newark/New York and Seoul, South Korea, on September 4, 2026, further diversifying its Asian routes. As an added convenience, United will enhance its service to Tel Aviv, Israel, with a third flight from Newark beginning March 28, 2026.

Commitment to Global Connectivity

Patrick Quayle, Senior Vice President of Global Network Planning and Alliances, highlighted the airline's commitment to connecting customers to unique destinations. With these new additions, United will operate to 46 cities across the Atlantic in 2026, surpassing any other U.S. airline. The carrier's robust international network is bolstering its reputation as a top choice for international travelers.

With nearly 3,000 weekly international roundtrips planned for Summer 2026, United expresses its determination to provide unparalleled travel options, connecting customers to nearly 150 destinations worldwide, including numerous exclusive routes unavailable through other U.S. carriers. All new routes are subject to government approval, with ticket sales available now through United's official website and app.

A Summer Filled with Exploration

This expansion opportunity foresees a summer filled with adventure for travelers, allowing them to explore diverse landscapes, historical sites, and vibrant cultures.
