DAMAC Digital's Massive Expansion
DAMAC Digital, a prominent player in the global digital infrastructure market and a subsidiary of DAMAC Group, has made a significant stride by announcing its planned IT capacity of 6,000 MW. This ambitious project spans thirteen countries, marking a substantial evolution in the company’s capabilities and reach. As the demand for artificial intelligence (AI), cloud services, and advanced digital infrastructure surges worldwide, DAMAC Digital positions itself as a leader prepared to meet this escalating need.
According to Hussain Sajwani, the Founder of DAMAC Group, during a recent statement at the Datacloud Global Congress held in Cannes, France, he emphasized the pivotal role of digital infrastructure as the backbone of contemporary economies, businesses, and governments. “DAMAC Digital was established to create that foundational support necessary for the era of AI and cloud computing,” he noted, underscoring the company’s vision in fostering digital transformation.
The immediate target for DAMAC Digital is to reach an operational capacity of 2 GW by the end of the first quarter of 2028. The company exemplifies rapid growth in the digital infrastructure domain, having commenced construction on ten additional sites in the past five months. Eight of these locations are expected to be operational by late 2026, and the company aims to exceed 700 MW of operational capacity across more than fourteen sites by early 2027.
Having entered into collaborative agreements with five major global cloud service providers, DAMAC Digital is establishing itself as a trusted partner for leading technology enterprises. The workforce is rapidly expanding, with over 600 employees engaged in various capacities, including design, procurement, construction, operations, and support across three continents. The company has a notable presence in Europe, covering countries like Spain, Italy, Greece, Turkey, and the Nordic region. Additionally, in Asia, expansion efforts are underway in Thailand, Indonesia, Malaysia, and the Philippines, with operational capacity already established in Saudi Arabia and Thailand.
Founded in 2021 by Hussain Sajwani, DAMAC Digital was born from the belief that data centers would become a vital infrastructure component of the decade. The company initially launched with a 12 MW campus, developing operational excellence and delivery capacity that support its ambitious global expansion plans.
Today, DAMAC Digital responds to rising demands from large-scale cloud service providers, AI-centric workloads, and enterprise needs. With over 90% of its data centers designed with liquid cooling infrastructure, DAMAC Digital's facilities are equipped to handle the latest generation of AI accelerators, including NVIDIA’s Vera Rubin platform.
The global portfolio of DAMAC Digital supports high-density computing, cloud expansion, national digital transformation, and the increasing need for sovereign digital infrastructure. The wealth of experience possessed by DAMAC Group in land acquisition, project development, and execution allows DAMAC Digital to secure strategic locations, navigate complex permitting and zoning requirements swiftly, and deliver capacity to the market efficiently.
