In a recent announcement, Maritime Launch Services Inc. and Isar Aerospace revealed they have agreed to extend the deadline for finalizing their statement of work and associated programmatic milestones. The original deadline of September 1, 2026, has now been moved to September 15, 2026. This extension aims to provide the necessary time for both parties to complete the detailed planning process for their collaborative venture at Spaceport Nova Scotia.

Stephen Matier, the President and CEO of Maritime Launch Services, expressed satisfaction with the progress made thus far. He noted that the teams are diligently working through intricate planning to advance their vital program and the additional two weeks would allow them to maintain the positive momentum they have created together.

This collaborative effort between Maritime Launch and Isar Aerospace stems from a previously announced agreement concerning the use of facilities at Spaceport Nova Scotia. As Canada’s first commercial spaceport, this location is crucial for furthering both companies' aspirations to establish a robust launch capability for satellite missions. It will enable the launch of small and medium-sized satellites into low Earth orbit, which is fundamental for the evolving space landscape.

The partnership focuses particularly on the development of Isar Aerospace's dedicated launch complex tailored for its Spectrum launch vehicle. Notably, they have their sights set on conducting the first orbital launches from this site by 2028, marking a significant milestone for both organizations and for Canada’s burgeoning position in the aerospace sector.

Alexandre Dalloneau, Vice President of Mission and Launch Operations at Isar Aerospace, shared his perspective on the collaboration, emphasizing the intensive and productive nature of the planning discussions. The additional time granted by the deadline extension will allow their teams to finalize all outstanding details, ensuring they are primed for execution once the program reaches that stage.

Maritime Launch Services, a Canadian-owned enterprise based in Nova Scotia, is committed to creating a spaceport that serves both civil and defense-related missions. Spaceport Nova Scotia is set to become a dual-use facility that provides satellite launch services not just for Canadian clients but also for international partners, making Canada a competitive player in the global commercial space market.

Since its founding in 2018, the company has expanded swiftly and now employs over 400 staff members across five international locations.
