Haseko Corporation Collaborates on Fencing Experience Event
On July 14, 2026, Asuka Village's elementary school gymnasium became a vibrant hub of activity as Haseko Corporation collaborated with local organizations to host a unique fencing experience event. This initiative focused on introducing the sport of fencing to local youth, inviting 227 students from grades one to six to participate.
In partnership with the Nara Prefectural Fencing Association and Dai Nippon Printing Co., Haseko Corporation took a hands-on approach to nurture interest in sports among children. Esteemed fencing athletes including Seiya Asakai and Tamaki Terayama, both members of the Japanese national team, joined the event along with rising star Yoshi Ota, a current student at Waseda University. These athletes shared their expertise, engaging with the young participants to instill a sense of excitement and motivation.
During the event, students were introduced to the fundamental movements and rules of fencing, gaining a foundational understanding of the sport. Utilizing an innovative system developed by Dai Nippon Printing, known as Smart Fencing, the students were able to simulate real fencing experiences. This interactive technology incorporates flexible swords and conductive jackets, enhancing the learning experience in a safe and engaging manner.
The event also featured thrilling demonstration matches by the athletes, capturing the students' attention and sparking their curiosity about the sport. A unique Q&A session provided an opportunity for the children to interact directly with the champions, further deepening their understanding of fencing.
Haseko Corporation has a long-standing partnership with Asuka Village, established back in September 2017 through a public-private collaboration agreement. Together, they have worked diligently on initiatives aimed at preserving the historical significance of the ancient city of Asuka, as well as promoting regional industries and activities that invigorate the community. Their collective efforts strive to draw visitors to Asuka Village, a candidate site for UNESCO World Heritage status, allowing guests to experience the rich culture of ancient Japan firsthand.
Looking ahead, Haseko Corporation is committed to continuing collaborative community engagement as a means to foster local revitalization and cultural enrichment. By providing opportunities such as the fencing experience event, the company hopes to inspire the next generation and cultivate a lasting appreciation for sports and heritage.
Through these initiatives, the aim is not only to improve community well-being but also to solidify Asuka Village’s cultural significance and attract interest from across the nation. The fencing experience event is a prime example of how sports can bridge generational gaps, unite communities, and promote a healthy, active lifestyle among young people.
