Generac Enhances Manufacturing Capacity with New Facility in Sussex, Wisconsin

Generac Holdings Inc., a prominent name in energy technology and power solutions, is set to bolster its manufacturing capabilities with the establishment of a new facility in Sussex, Wisconsin. This strategic move aims to address the surging demand from the commercial and industrial sectors, particularly focusing on data centers, which have seen explosive growth in recent years.

Expanding Manufacturing Footprint

The Sussex facility represents a significant addition to Generac's existing operations, which already boast state-of-the-art plants in Beaver Dam and expanded operations in Oshkosh, Wisconsin. These developments underscore the company’s commitment to scaling its manufacturing capacity to meet the heightened demand for backup power solutions. The company has reported impressive year-on-year growth within its Commercial & Industrial (CI) segments, further validating the need for this expansion.

As noted by Aaron Jagdfeld, President and CEO of Generac, global data center demands are projected to triple by 2030, creating a substantial need for reliable and scalable power solutions. Generac is keenly positioned to meet this challenge, drawing on over 65 years of experience in backup power. With this new facility, the company anticipates the potential of doubling its CI product sales within the next three to five years, which could translate into substantial growth.

A Response to Modern Demands

The facility will produce large-scale backup generators and energy solutions that are vital for the rapidly expanding data center market. Generac has previously identified a growing customer interest in their large-megawatt generators, particularly from the data center sector. This new manufacturing capacity will not only enable Generac to fulfill current demand but also strengthen its position in other important backup power verticals such as healthcare, hospitality, water utilities, and heavy industries.

With the ability to add more than 100 manufacturing positions, the Sussex facility is expected to open its doors in the fourth quarter of 2026. This expansion will also enhance Generac's international presence, given its existing portfolio of nine manufacturing facilities across North America, Europe, Asia, and South America.

Commitment to Innovation

Founded in 1959, Generac has pioneered the introduction of affordable backup generators and continues to lead the charge in energy technology solutions. As the company evolves, its commitment to innovation remains steadfast. The new facility in Sussex aligns with Generac's broader mission: to empower individuals and businesses to utilize energy on their own terms in a more resilient, efficient, and sustainable manner.

Generac is dedicated to navigating the pressing energy needs of the modern world and is ready to respond with enhanced operational capabilities and continued investment in manufacturing innovation. The future looks promising for Generac as it takes bold steps to ensure it remains at the forefront of the energy solutions market.
