Fiace Home Announces Winners of the Design Contest 2025 Celebrating Innovative Passive Design

Fiace Home Design Contest 2025 Winners Announced

Fiace Home Company has unveiled the winners of its prestigious "Design Contest 2025," which focuses on promoting excellence in the field of passive design for homes completed between January 1 and December 31, 2025. This contest aims to recognize outstanding residences that excel in insulation, airtightness, and the utilization of natural winds, ensuring comfort and satisfaction for homeowners.

This year's contest marks the 17th edition of an annual event that encourages design improvement and construction technology advancements among franchise affiliates throughout Japan. The ultimate accolade, the "Best of Design Award," was determined through a voting system involving both headquarters and affiliated stores. The judging incorporated an assessment of passive design elements alongside aesthetic factors from both the exterior and interior categories, resulting in five award-winning designs: one Best of Design, two excellence awards in the exterior design category, and two in the interior design category.

Overview of the Design Contest 2025

  • - Submission Target: Properties completed by Fiace Home franchise stores from January 1, 2025, to December 31, 2025, not previously recognized in past competitions. Properties completed after January 1, 2023, may also be submitted if they have not been awarded previously.
  • - Submission Period: Entries will be accepted from January 13, 2026, to February 20, 2026.
  • - Selection Criteria: Nominations were evaluated based on votes from Fiace Home affiliates and headquarters staff. Special consideration was given to insulation, airtightness, solar heat gain, solar shading, natural ventilation, daylight utilization, and site conditions for passive design when selecting winners.

Award Recipients

Best of Design Award: Villa (Fiace Home Sakudaira Store)

Exterior Design: The winning design features a gently sloped roof that seems to stretch into the landscape, complementing the surroundings. The facade combines gray plaster walls with highly textured cement-based slate lap panels for contrast, creating a visually striking yet simple aesthetic. A generous terrace and expansive openings were included to establish a relationship between indoor and outdoor spaces, ensuring captivating views and harmonization with nature.

Interior Plan: The inviting entrance, adorned with a picture window and indirect lighting, sets a luxurious tone. The spacious layout promotes openness, providing distinct yet connected areas for family engagement and relaxation. A dining space that opens onto the terrace fosters a seamless connection between inside and out, while private rooms maintain intimacy without sacrificing the sense of familial presence.

Passive Design Features: By employing e-panels and triple-glazed windows, this residence achieves remarkable thermal insulation. Strategically placed large openings on the southern side and a design focusing on airflow ensure pleasant ventilation even during winter months, while daylight accessibility enhances overall comfort.

Exterior Design Excellence Award: YoHaku (Fiace Home Sakudaira Store)

Exterior Design: The home features a unique roof structure that adds dimensionality and rhythm, maintaining balance in its openness and seclusion. An enclosed patio offers space for varied activities, cleverly designed to blend with the home's overall architecture.

Exterior Design Excellence Award: Luxurious Modern Living in a Single-Story Home (Fiace Home Kai Yamanashi Store)

Exterior Design: Soft textured external walls paired with warm wooden accents create a harmonious facade. The design, which fuses traditional elements with modern style, is both timeless and elegant, emphasizing simplicity with high-quality materials.

Interior Design Excellence Award: Family-Creating Home with a Lofted Ceiling (Fiace Home Nagano South Store)

Interior Design: This design showcases a cohesive palette of neutral colors, large windows, and a blend of concrete and wood elements that together create a warm yet modern environment. The integrated kitchen and dining area enhances interaction amongst family members during meal preparation, while indirect lighting provides a dynamic atmosphere throughout different times of the day.

Interior Design Excellence Award: Distinctively Stylish Adult-Friendly Home (Fiace Home Sumoto Store)

Interior Design: Featuring a combination of materials like galvanized steel and tiles, the home's exterior asserts a bold presence. Inside, oak flooring and thoughtfully curated furnishings contribute to a sophisticated yet comfortable living environment.
