Plamondon Companies Welcomes a New Chief Financial Officer



Plamondon Companies, a family-run organization known for its hospitality ventures, has recently announced the appointment of Matthew Zappone as Chief Financial Officer (CFO). With a remarkable career that spans over two decades, Zappone’s extensive expertise in financial management is anticipated to play a crucial role in shaping the company’s strategic growth.

Matthew Zappone comes to Plamondon Companies with a wealth of experience, having spent 25 years at Marriott International. Throughout his tenure there, he held various positions within the Finance and Accounting Departments, where he contributed to operational efficiencies across Marriott's Global Operations, Global Brand, and Sustainability teams. Most notably, he led a Sustainability Finance team that supported a Climate Action Program aimed at increasing energy efficiency across over 9,000 hotels worldwide.

Peter Plamondon Jr., co-owner of the Plamondon Companies, expressed his enthusiasm for Zappone’s arrival. He highlighted that Zappone’s unique skill set not only focuses on financial analysis and management but also on the relational aspects of the business. The Plamondon Companies operates multiple renowned hotel brands, including Marriott, Hilton, and IHG properties across Maryland, Pennsylvania, and Georgia. As a third-generation family business, the company is eager to extend its reach further, with exciting projects like the upcoming full-service Marriott hotel and conference center located on Carroll Creek in Frederick, Maryland. Zappone’s leadership is expected to be instrumental in guiding these developments and identifying strategic opportunities in the greater Washington, D.C. area.
