ANSI Welcomes Ed Anderson as Chief Digital Officer
The American National Standards Institute (ANSI) has officially appointed Ed Anderson as their Chief Digital Officer, effective February 23, 2026. This key position highlights ANSI's commitment to integrating technology with its strategic goals. In this capacity, Anderson will oversee digital governance, enterprise architecture, infrastructure, and technology capabilities within the organization. His role not only focuses on high-level planning but also on direct oversight for enterprise systems, cybersecurity, and IT operations.
A Leader with Extensive Experience
Anderson brings a wealth of experience to ANSI from his previous roles in various multinational organizations. Notably, he served as the Chief Administrative Officer and Chief Financial Officer at Habitat for Humanity International. During his time there, he led initiatives that revitalized the organization's IT and financial planning frameworks across a complex operations network spread over 70 countries, managing an impressive $2.4 billion.
Before that, he held the position of Chief Information Officer at the International Monetary Fund (IMF), where he was instrumental in modernizing essential functions such as human resources, economic data management, and capacity development. His leadership experience extends to World Vision International, where he directed a large team focusing on creating global technology solutions, as well as serving as a Presidential Appointee with the U.S. Peace Corps, leading transformation initiatives across 74 nations.
A Pivotal Time for ANSI
Dr. Laurie E. Locascio, ANSI’s president and CEO, expressed her enthusiasm regarding Anderson's arrival, emphasizing how his rich expertise in digital transformation will be crucial for ANSI's mission. This timing is particularly significant as the organizations find themselves at the forefront of a digital revolution, which affects how standards are developed, managed, and delivered. Anderson’s appointment comes as ANSI prepares for continued enhancements in their digital offerings, ensuring they maintain leadership in modernizing the U.S. standards ecosystem that supports both economic competitiveness and technological advancement.
Anderson's Vision
“I’m thrilled to join ANSI and contribute to an organization that plays such a vital role in supporting American innovation and global competitiveness,” said Anderson regarding his new role. He understands the transformative potential technology brings to organizations and is eager to help modernize ANSI’s digital infrastructure. He highlighted his experiences at prestigious organizations like the IMF and Habitat for Humanity, stating that he aims to implement innovative solutions that will better serve ANSI's members and the wider standards community.
Transitioning Leadership
Anderson's appointment marks a significant transition as Mike Petosa, the previous head of ANSI’s technology department, prepares for retirement after an impactful two-decade long tenure. Petosa will remain available until March 31, 2026, in a strategic advisory capacity to ensure a smooth transition for Anderson and ongoing projects within ANSI.
