B Lab Launches in Taiwan with National Cheng Kung University

B Lab, the innovative research institute associated with iU (Professional University of Information and Management for Innovation), has officially signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with National Cheng Kung University (NCKU) in Taiwan. This collaboration culminates in the establishment of B Lab Taiwan, based at the Institute of Creative Industries Design (ICID) in Tainan. The initiative aims to foster co-creative learning experiences that connect educational practices with the local community.

Vision for Educational Collaboration

The primary goal of B Lab Taiwan is to develop a new educational model that emphasizes collaboration and innovation in learning design. B Lab and ICID seek to bridge the gap between academic institutions and the local population, creating inclusive learning environments. This approach not only targets university students but also aims to engage local residents, thereby promoting community-wide participation in educational advancements.

Joint workshops, lectures from invited experts, and collaborative academic research will form the backbone of B Lab Taiwan’s initiatives. By providing various platforms for engagement, both organizations aspire to cultivate a rich learning atmosphere that stimulates creativity, practical skills, and collective problem-solving.

Insights from Chia-Han Yang

Professor Chia-Han Yang, Chairperson of ICID, has expressed optimism regarding this partnership. He emphasizes the importance of integrating industrial design principles with innovative business strategies. ICID, rooted in industrial design, aims to transcend traditional product-focused approaches. Instead, the institute is turning its attention towards the broader aspects of industrial planning, enterprise innovation, and design thinking.

Professor Yang stated, “We wish to collaborate with projects in B Lab, to bring more potential future to both institutes.” This collaboration is seen as a pivotal step in opening new avenues for both institutions, reinforcing their commitment to fostering innovation and economic success through creative endeavors.
