JR East Group Launches Its First Craft Beer Brewery
JR East Group, through its operating company JR Chuo Line Community Design, is excited to announce the grand opening of its first direct-operated craft beer brewery,
Central Line Beer Works, scheduled for August 30, 2025. Located beneath the elevated railway between Higashi Koganei and Musashi Koganei stations, this brewery aims to foster connections within the community while enhancing the vibrant craft beer culture along the Chuo Line.
The brewery marks the first of its kind in Koganei City, serving as a beacon of local craft beer development. Former railway staff have transitioned into brewers to oversee product development, embodying the spirit of community and collaboration in every brew. A taproom will also be featured, providing visitors a chance to engage with the various offerings.
At the grand opening, attendees can delight in a selection of beers sourced from closely related breweries, alongside the debut of three unique craft beers produced in-house.
Exciting Launch Events
Following the grand opening, Central Line Beer Works will participate in the
Koganei Beer Festival 2025, taking place from September 5-7. This festival is set to be a celebration of local craft brews, featuring
13 beer businesses from the Tama region along with four dining facilities from Koganei City. Visitors can sample the freshly brewed craft beers during this festival, creating a perfect atmosphere for beer lovers and newcomers alike.
