Avalere Health Welcomes New Leadership

Avalere Health, a prominent player in the healthcare strategy landscape, recently made significant changes to its leadership team, announcing the appointment of Matt Kazan as their new Senior Vice President of Policy, along with the elevation of Laura Housman to Chief Public Health Officer. These strategic moves aim to enhance the company’s capacity to navigate the increasingly complex healthcare environment, especially as the regulatory landscape undergoes rapid changes.

A Strategic Appointment

Matt Kazan brings over a decade of experience from the U.S. Senate Committee on Finance, where he made tremendous contributions to healthcare legislation, including the Affordable Care Act and the Bipartisan Budget Act of 2018. His extensive background equips him with unparalleled insights into Medicare and the broader healthcare policy framework. Kazan previously worked as a Managing Director at Avalere Health and returns after a successful tenure at SCAN Health Plan as Vice President of Policy and Government Affairs. His return is highly anticipated, with leaders at Avalere expressing confidence in his ability to lead the policy division amidst the complexities facing health plans and providers today.

Sarah Alwardt, President of Advisory at Avalere Health, emphasized Kazan's remarkable foresight regarding policy developments, stating, “With deep expertise in the complexities of CMS and a first-hand knowledge of the Inflation Reduction Act, he is ideally positioned to support our clients in unlocking possibilities for every patient in a tumultuous U.S. healthcare landscape.”

Kazan’s role extends beyond merely leading the Policy team; he will collaborate with other divisions within Avalere to ensure that all strategies are deeply embedded with a robust understanding of the political factors influencing healthcare stakeholders.
