GUILD VALLEY: A New Hub for Startups in Shibuya
On August 22, 2025, Hitokara Media officially opened the doors to GUILD VALLEY, a community space designed to accelerate the startup ecosystem in the wider Shibuya area of Tokyo. Located on the first floor of a building in Dougenzaka, Shibuya, this innovative facility aims to connect startups with venture capitalists, large corporations, government agencies, and academic institutions. By creating a collaborative environment, GUILD VALLEY will contribute to the growth and expansion of startups, fostering a thriving ecosystem.
What is GUILD VALLEY?
GUILD VALLEY serves as a dedicated space for startups that are introduced through various connections, including venture capital partners and tenant companies funded by Tokyu Real Estate. The space is designed for coworking and hosting events, which encourages interaction between startups facing similar growth phases and challenges. This collaborative environment creates opportunities for teamwork, funding, and resource sharing, aiming to generate continuous growth and innovation for all involved.
Supporting Startup Growth through Community Engagement
With a strong track record of facilitating office relocations and real estate developments for numerous startups, Hitokara Media is committed to managing GUILD VALLEY and nurturing its community. The facility will offer event support and external communications assistance, positioning itself as a platform for startups aiming to thrive in one of Japan’s leading cultural and business hubs. The interior design, crafted by Hitokara Media's planning division, enhances communication among members and showcases a lively bar counter near the entrance, promoting a welcoming atmosphere. The flexible design accommodates meetings and events of various sizes and purposes.
Creating Connections Beyond Industries
In the pre-opening phase, GUILD VALLEY began trial operations last year and has already attracted participation from a wide range of startups (43 registered as of August 2025). In addition to serving as a workspace, the space hosts study sessions organized by venture capitalists and corporate off-site events for startups. A highlight during this pre-opening phase was an event led by UMAMI UNITED JAPAN, which invited food tech startups from Singapore to Japan to explore local food trends and technologies.
Insights from UMAMI UNITED JAPAN
Hiroto Yamazaki, CEO: "The strategic location of GUILD VALLEY in Shibuya, combined with its rich network, fosters regular collaborations between different industries. It is an ideal venue for negotiations and events with overseas guests, and we plan to leverage it for off-site meetings widely. We resonate with the mission of producing globally viable startups and aim to utilize this space as a hub for international connections."
Yuka Ando, HR/PR Manager: "While running a startup can be stimulating, it also comes with its challenges, especially with limited resources. Having a space to generate new connections is vital to support our ecosystem, as sharing experiences and insights with peers is one of the facility’s major advantages. It is also invaluable to have supportive companions to turn to when issues arise. We hope GUILD VALLEY continues to evolve as a business hub that expands opportunities for startups, and we want to be part of that journey."
Seeking GUILD Supporters
With the grand opening of GUILD VALLEY, they are actively seeking 'GUILD Supporters' to provide multifaceted support for startups. GUILD Supporters will offer practical assistance in finance, legal matters, and human resources, along with organizing events and study sessions to help startups tackle diverse challenges. During the trial period, 15 companies, including venture capitalists and business firms, have already registered to collaborate and seek investment opportunities.
