Lübeck Hearing Experts Share Insights at AHH 2025 in Jordan

Hearing Health Exchange at AHH 2025

In April 2025, experts from the Lübeck Campus Hearing Acoustics actively participated in the 11th Arab Hearing Health Conference held in Amman, Jordan. This prestigious gathering, organized by the Advanced Arab Academy of Audiovestibular (4A), took place from April 24 to 26, and featured over 25 countries represented, making it a significant event for professionals in the fields of audiology and ENT.

Significance of the Conference

The Arab Hearing Health Conference serves as a pivotal platform aimed at enhancing collaboration among hearing healthcare professionals across the Middle East and North Africa (MENA). Key stakeholders, including audiologists, hearing aid specialists, and medical practitioners convene to discuss advancements in hearing care practices and explore various technologies available in the market. The conference also focuses on improving rehabilitation strategies for hearing impairments prevalent in the region.

Lübeck Campus Contribution

The contributions from the Lübeck Campus were led by a dedicated team of instructors who presented workshops focusing on critical topics such as ear mold taking and cerumen management. These sessions were particularly well-received, drawing interest from attendees, many of whom were from Arab and North African countries. The hands-on training delivered by the Lübeck experts not only addressed practical aspects of hearing aid fitting but also emphasized techniques that could be implemented within diverse clinical settings.

Collaborative Efforts

The Advanced Arab Academy of Audiovestibular, the conference's organizing body, aims to integrate medical and audiological interests across the MENA region. Its partners include reputable institutions such as Al-Ahliyya Amman University from Jordan, the British Academy of Audiology, and Salus University from the USA, among others. For years, Lübeck experts have engaged in fruitful professional exchanges on topics related to clinical practices and the customization of technical hearing devices, including cochlear implants.

Dr. Khalid A. Hadi, President of 4A, emphasized the Congress's role in promoting global knowledge exchange, stating, "The insights shared at the Arab Hearing Health Congress can spearhead the development of hearing care in the Arab region, significantly enhancing the quality of life for numerous individuals."

Global Health Perspective

According to the World Health Organization (WHO), around 5% of the global population suffers from hearing loss, equating to approximately 430 million individuals, including 34 million children. It is predicted that this figure could rise to 700 million by 2050, highlighting the urgent need for improved hearing care solutions worldwide. The German hearing aid community, with approximately 19,500 acousticians, currently serves around 3.5 million individuals with hearing impairments, providing access to cutting-edge, fully digital hearing systems.

Educational Initiatives

The Campus Hearing Acoustics in Lübeck stands as the primary center for training in the hearing acoustic profession in Germany. This institution plays a critical role in equipping the next generation of hearing aid professionals through a combination of theoretical and practical training. The dual system of vocational training offered at the campus is recognized internationally and serves as a model for best practices in the industry.

By participating in the Arab Hearing Health Conference, Lübeck's experts not only fostered knowledge transfer but also reinforced their commitment to elevating hearing care standards globally. As healthcare systems evolve, initiatives like these underscore the importance of international collaboration to address the challenges of hearing loss effectively.
