Canton Fair 2025: Showcasing Innovations and Global Trade Opportunities
The 137th Canton Fair Opens in Guangzhou
On April 15, 2025, the highly anticipated 137th China Import and Export Fair, known as the Canton Fair, commenced in Guangzhou, capturing the attention of global markets. This expansive trade event, which runs through May 5, showcases the latest developments in various industries and acts as a crucial bridge for international commerce.
The Fair is organized into three distinct phases, each focusing on unique themes: "Advanced Manufacturing," "Quality Home Life," and "Better Life." This year, over 55 exhibition sections and 172 product zones have been established, including newly introduced areas dedicated to cutting-edge service robots and innovative housing solutions.
Emphasizing its ongoing evolution, the Canton Fair continues to adopt a hybrid model that integrates an online platform accessible year-round. This digital approach enhances functionality and offers improved structures and services, enabling exhibitors and buyers to connect more effectively, thus creating new business opportunities.
In his opening speech, Zhang Sihong, the Deputy Director of the China Foreign Trade Centre, warmly welcomed international attendees, highlighting the Fair's long-standing role as a facilitator of global collaboration. “Today, we come together not only to showcase our advancements but to pursue shared success and mutual benefits,” he remarked, accentuating the event's unifying spirit.
As of April 13, the Fair drew significant interest with over 200,000 pre-registered buyers hailing from 215 different countries. During Phase 1, which concentrates on advanced manufacturing technologies, attendees flooded the vast exhibition space of 520,000 square meters.
A standout feature of this phase is the newly established Service Robots Zone located in the Friendship Hall of Area D. Here, buyers assembled to capture product demonstrations of a variety of robots, including robotic dogs, industrial exoskeletons, and autonomous navigation robots. This focus on robotics not only underscores the Fair's dedication to technological advancement but also showcases China's burgeoning role as a leader in intelligent manufacturing.
From April 15 to 19, over 11,304 exhibitors participated, with about 3,700 businesses specializing in electric vehicles, lithium batteries, solar cells, and digital technologies. This impressive lineup reflects China's transformative efforts toward becoming a high-tech manufacturing powerhouse.
The Canton Fair’s legacy as a vital platform for fostering trade cooperation and highlighting industrial progress is evident as it enters its 137th installment. By continually expanding its scope and enhancing its offerings, the Fair reinforces its prominent position in the realm of international trade.
