MSC Cruises Welcomes MSC World America, Marks Major Milestones in France

MSC Cruises Welcomes MSC World America

MSC Cruises proudly announced the delivery of its latest flagship, MSC World America, during a grand ceremony in Saint-Nazaire, France. This momentous occasion not only marked the arrival of the ship but also highlighted significant advancements with two additional vessels, MSC World Asia and MSC World Atlantic. The event brought together influential figures including Captain Gianluigi Aponte, the founder of MSC, and Pierfrancesco Vago, Executive Chairman of MSC Group's Cruise Division, alongside key representatives from the Chantiers de l'Atlantique shipyard.

The ceremony took place at the renowned shipyard where MSC World America was constructed over the past 30 months, integrating state-of-the-art technologies and environmental features. Referred to as the 23rd ship in the MSC fleet, its inaugural naming ceremony is scheduled for April 9 at the world’s largest cruise terminal located at PortMiami.

The Cruise Experience Reimagined

MSC World America is tailor-made for the North American market, combining European elegance with American comfort. It showcases innovative venues designed to meet diverse traveler preferences. It features seven unique districts that provide distinct atmospheres for relaxation and entertainment, alongside 19 dining options, including the exclusive Eataly restaurant at sea.

One of the ship’s standout features is the Harbour, an outdoor family entertainment venue that includes thrill rides such as the Cliffhanger, a ropes course, and a water park. Additionally, the ship's World Galleria, spanning three levels, offers vibrant shopping and dining experiences, solidifying MSC Cruises' commitment to providing a world-class onboard experience.

As for sustainability, MSC World America stands out as one of the most energy-efficient cruise ships globally. Its innovative design surpasses the requirements of the International Maritime Organization’s Energy Efficiency Design Index. The ship employs next-generation engines powered by Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG), signaling a pivotal transition towards the use of renewable fuels in the cruise industry. Furthermore, it is capable of using shore power at ports, thereby minimizing its carbon footprint during docking times.

Celebrating Key Milestones

During the event, the coin ceremony for MSC World Asia took place, where commemorative coins were placed within the ship’s structure, symbolizing good fortune and blessings during its construction phases. Additionally, the steel-cutting ceremony for MSC World Atlantic marked the beginning of construction on this fourth World Class ship, which will begin its service in 2027, sailing Caribbean routes from Port Canaveral starting in winter 2027-28.

This trio of ships is a testament to the fruitful partnership between MSC Cruises and Chantiers de l'Atlantique, which has been instrumental for over two decades. Their collaboration has birthed numerous innovative vessels that continue to revolutionize the cruising experience. "Today signifies an emotional milestone, not just for MSC but for the maritime industry as we continue to enrich guest experiences while prioritizing environmental responsibility," stated Laurent Castaing, General Manager at Chantiers de l'Atlantique.

Future-Proofing the Industry

The recent advancements and innovations presented by MSC World America align with the cruise line's vision of redefining luxury at sea. The upcoming years will see improved amenities and even greater commitment to environmental stewardship as the industry adapts to global sustainability requirements.

MSC World America will embark on its inaugural Eastern Caribbean cruises starting April 12, taking guests to stunning destinations such as Puerto Plata in the Dominican Republic and San Juan in Puerto Rico, alongside stops at Ocean Cay, MSC’s exclusive private island. With such extensive offerings, MSC Cruises aims not only to attract a diverse clientele but also to set new benchmarks in cruise travel.

As MSC Cruises continues to innovate and expand its fleet, the unveiling of MSC World America heralds an exciting new chapter in luxury cruising, emphasizing the perfect blend of style, comfort, and sustainability. With each ship, MSC proves to be at the forefront of the cruise industry, ready to take the next big leap towards extraordinary ocean adventures.
