Coro Medical Launches Project AED365 to Enhance Community Safety
Coro Medical, a prominent leader in providing life-saving medical devices, has recently announced the launch of an ambitious initiative named
Project AED365. This project is set to deliver automated external defibrillators (AEDs) to various communities across the nation over the course of a year, aiming to enhance public safety during cardiac emergencies.
A Vision for Life-Saving Access
In a statement, Coro Medical's CEO,
Travis Harris, explained the motivation behind the initiative: "Every second counts in a cardiac emergency. Project AED365 reflects our commitment to making life-saving technology accessible to communities across the nation." This mission reveals a dedication not only to providing devices but also to ensuring that communities are well-equipped and informed about using these vital tools effectively.
Project AED365 will see
Coro Medical donating
365 AEDs, one for each day of the year, to selected organizations, communities, and individuals. This is a significant contribution to public health and safety, especially in areas that may lack access to such critical equipment.
Collaborations for a Greater Impact
To execute this mission, Coro Medical is collaborating with
ZOLL Medical, a respected name in the medical device industry. Together, they aim to provide the
ZOLL AED 3, known for its user-friendly design, which allows even individuals with no medical training to use it effectively.
Troy Pflugner, Group Vice President at ZOLL Medical, expressed his company’s pride in being part of Project AED365, emphasizing the importance of accessibility to life-saving equipment in various community settings.
In addition to the donations of AEDs, Coro Medical is partnering with
HSI (Health & Safety Institute) to offer complimentary Remote Skill Verification (RSV) training alongside each unit. This initiative ensures not only access to AEDs but also to essential training in CPR, AED use, and First Aid, which greatly increases the chances of survival in a cardiac emergency.
Comprehensive Support for Communities
Furthermore,
LifeVac, creators of a non-invasive airway clearance device, will donate one of their units along with each AED. These collaborations underscore a comprehensive approach to community safety—addressing both the availability of life-saving devices and the necessary training to use them effectively.
Anthony Corwin, General Manager of HSI, noted, "Effective bystander CPR and defibrillation with an AED can double a victim's chance of survival." His comments highlight the critical link between having AEDs readily available and the preparation of individuals to use them in emergencies.
Highlighting the Need for AEDs
According to the Sudden Cardiac Arrest Foundation, sudden cardiac arrest is a leading cause of death among adults aged 40 and older in the U.S. The foundation also reports a staggering 70% survival rate when an AED is employed within 2 minutes of cardiac arrest, accentuating the necessity of having AEDs in easily accessible public spaces such as schools, parks, and community centers.
Project AED365 is a call to action for communities and organizations to request AED donations. With a mounting commitment to public safety,
Coro Medical is solidifying its role as a trusted leader in health and safety and is creating a future where more lives are saved through timely access to life-saving devices.
