Exploring New Learning Methods in the AI Era: TECH PLAY Event Series Launch

Introduction to the New Event Series

TECH PLAY-X, a company headquartered in Minato, Tokyo, is initiating a thought-provoking event series titled "Considering Learning Methods in a Changing Era". Their mission is to increase the number of TECH PLAYERS and TECH COMPANIES while addressing how generative AI reshapes the skills and growth pathways required for engineers.

With about 320,000 engineers and IT professionals utilizing the TECH PLAY media platform, the series aims to foster discussions on how to enhance critical thinking and judgment skills in the context of AI advancements. The first event will feature Toshiaki Kawai, VPoE of M3 Inc., known as "Bankushi", as a guest speaker, during an online session titled "Lessons in Cultivating Judgment Skills in the AI Era" on August 28, 2026.

Event Overview

The event will engage participants in discussions about how the evolution of generative AI is transforming engineers' learning and experience acquisition. Participants will explore the critical role that human judgment plays in relation to AI's capabilities in tasks like code generation and document preparation.

Significance of the Series

In a time where AI can assist or even automate many aspects of engineering tasks, big questions arise: "What should engineers create?" and “How do we evaluate AI-generated content?". The importance of human judgment becomes more pronounced in ensuring that engineers can still learn effectively while leveraging AI tools. This series seeks to focus on fundamental learning skills, such as:
  • - Judgment abilities
  • - Learning agility
  • - Questioning skills
  • - Career development
  • - Organizational building

Through this series, each guest will provide insights on practitioners in related fields, allowing knowledge to flow in a relay format across industries. The kickoff will see Toshiaki Kawai facilitating discussions that bridge these gaps.

Why Now?

Traditionally, engineers have honed their skills through hands-on work—coding, reviewing, troubleshooting, and engaging with clients. However, as generative AI takes on more roles, the methods for acquiring knowledge and experience are rapidly changing. While AI offers immediate answers and options for comparisons, the challenge remains in determining how to interpret those responses and how to cultivate judgment through personal experience.

TECH PLAY-X, through this project, aims to delve into how engineers can effectively accumulate experience and cultivate their judgment capabilities alongside AI involvement.

The Structure of the Event

During the online dialogue between Toshiaki Kawai and Yuuta Sugai, the product manager of TECH PLAY, participants will explore:
  • - The transformative nature of engineering learning methods in light of generative AI advancements.
  • - The evolving opportunities for learning unique to the AI era.
  • - The enduring need for traditional experience learning in cultivating skills.

Who Should Attend?

This event is highly recommended for:
  • - Engineers feeling uncertain about their learning pathways amidst advancing generative AI.
  • - Engineering managers seeking effective methods for guiding team members.
  • - Individuals wanting to enhance decision-making capabilities through their engagement with AI.
  • - Professionals seeking to reassess the meaning of experience in their careers.
