Historic Joint Venture Agreement Signed

On November 7, 2025, amidst the vibrant atmosphere of the China International Import Expo (CIIE) 2025, a groundbreaking joint venture agreement was secured between Silal and Shouguang Colorful Manor Modern Agriculture Co., Ltd (SVG). This remarkable event took place in the presence of His Highness Sheikh Theyab bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the Vice President of the Presidential Court for Development and...

The agreement embodies a significant milestone aimed at enhancing collaboration between the United Arab Emirates and China, particularly in the field of sustainable agriculture. It aligns with the UAE's vision to bolster food security, diversify local production, and promote the adoption of advanced agro-technological solutions suitable for extreme climates.

A Step Towards Food Security

His Excellency Dr. Thani bin Ahmed Al Zeyoudi, Minister of State for Foreign Trade, spoke about the UAE's commitment to forming strategic partnerships that enrich its national food security ecosystem while strengthening economic ties with key global partners like China. "This joint initiative reflects our mutual commitment to innovation, sustainability, and responsible growth, benefiting both nations and contributing to global food system resilience," he stated.

Under the terms of the agreement, Silal and SVG will establish the first facility in the region dedicated to agricultural biological insects and will collaboratively develop state-of-the-art greenhouse infrastructure to supply the UAE and Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) markets. This partnership unites Silal's deep market knowledge and farmer network with SVG's technological expertise in AI-driven greenhouse systems, biological pollination, and precision agriculture.

To reinforce their shared vision of expanding in the global market, both entities have also set a long-term strategic partnership in the trade of fruits and vegetables. This includes a projected delivery of over 1,000 containers annually of selected products from China to the UAE and surrounding markets.

Advancing Sustainable Agriculture Through Innovation

S.E. Dhafer Al Qasimi, CEO of the Silal Group, emphasized that this partnership marks a significant advancement in Silal's mission to promote sustainable agriculture through science and innovation. By merging SVG's technological proficiency with Silal's extensive understanding of the UAE agricultural sector, this joint venture is poised to enhance resilience, efficiency, and long-term competitiveness across the entire agri-food value chain.

He further added, "Beyond innovation, our goal is to empower local farmers with access to affordable agricultural inputs and the latest technologies, aiding them in enhancing productivity, reducing costs, and optimizing resource utilization in a constantly evolving environment."

This collaboration aims to localize key agricultural inputs, decrease dependence on imports, and enable climate-smart, resource-efficient agriculture throughout the region. By integrating SVG's advanced manufacturing capabilities with Silal's operational leadership, the alliance promises to deliver scalable and cost-effective solutions that will enhance water efficiency, increase yields, and strengthen the UAE's reputation as a regional hub for sustainable agriculture and innovation.

Ming Yang, the founder of Shouguang Colorful Manor Modern Agriculture Co., Ltd (SVG), commented, "Our alliance with Silal presents an unprecedented opportunity to further enhance our advanced technologies and agricultural expertise in the region's unique climatic conditions. Together, we will combine our strengths to significantly contribute to creating a sustainable, innovative, and resilient food security ecosystem in the UAE."

Investing for the Future

As part of this joint venture, a substantial investment of $38 million is earmarked for constructing an AI and robotics-driven vegetable production center in Al Foah, Al Ain, covering a land area of 9.8 hectares. These facilities are expected to function as a regional innovation center, showcasing modern greenhouse technologies, efficient water use systems, and climate-smart agricultural models adaptable to Gulf environments.

This agreement follows the signing of two significant memorandums of understanding between Silal and SVG, marking a deepening of technical and commercial collaboration. It will facilitate knowledge transfer, capacity development, and technology localization, providing UAE farmers with solutions that reduce import reliance while enhancing productivity and fostering responsible environmental management.
