GAC Makes a Splash in Italy with AION UT and AION V Launch Event

On October 8, 2026, GAC Automotive officially launched their latest electric vehicles, the AION UT and AION V, in Italy. The launch event was held at the renowned Superstudio Più in Milan, where over 40 journalists and members of the automotive industry gathered to experience the new models in a media presentation and test-drive event. This initiative marks a significant step in GAC's European expansion strategy, which emphasizes local design, assembly, and after-sales support.

The AION UT, a compact electric hatchback, has been designed with a wheelbase of 2,750 mm, offering a generous WLTP range of up to 430 kilometers. Its compact proportions are complemented by an interior specifically engineered to optimize passenger comfort. In addition to the hatchback, the AION V represents GAC's commitment to electric SUVs, boasting an impressive WLTP range of 510 kilometers. This SUV is equipped with a range of features, including an integrated heat pump, rear seats that can be adjusted for enhanced comfort, and a luggage compartment that provides three levels of storage.

During the event, attendees were not only introduced to the vehicles but also engaged with a unique "From Concept to Reality" exhibition. This showcase featured models of various concept vehicles developed by GAC Advanced Design Milan, highlighting the advanced design capabilities of the center and presenting a historical context to the new AION offerings.

For those interested in a hands-on experience, more than 30 journalists participated in test-driving the new models. The AION UT's route covered 15 kilometers through urban streets between Via Tortona and Chiaravalle Abbey, providing a real-world environment to evaluate the vehicle's performance. Similarly, the AION V’s testing route extended 20 kilometers, effectively combining both urban and suburban driving conditions. This gave participants an advantageous opportunity to assess how both vehicles operate in everyday scenarios.

The launch of the AION UT and AION V in Italy is part of GAC's customer-centric vision, articulated through its "In Europe, for Europe" approach. The company collaborates with Magna for local vehicle assembly in Austria and partners with European suppliers such as Bosch and Continental. Additionally, GAC has established a European parts and logistics center in Rotterdam, Netherlands, ensuring that parts are delivered within 36 hours to promote a fulfillment rate exceeding 95%.

Within the context of GAC's robust international business, it was mentioned that the company’s products are now available in 121 countries and regions around the globe. Recent sales figures indicate impressive growth, with GAC exporting more than 172,000 vehicles in the first eight months of 2026—a staggering increase of 136% compared to the previous year.

As GAC continues to expand its footprint in Europe, the launch of the AION UT and AION V not only showcases its commitment to innovation in electric mobility but also reflects its dedication to providing exceptional support and service to its European customers. With a strong local presence and a growing lineup of electric vehicles, GAC is poised to compete vigorously in the European automotive market.
