Midea Launches Sustainable Innovations at IFA 2025 to Reinforce Low-Carbon Vision

Midea's Sustainable Innovations at IFA 2025

At the recently held IFA 2025 in Berlin, Midea once again underscored its commitment to sustainability with the presentation of its philosophy, "GREEN VISION, BLUE FUTURE." This event featured a comprehensive showcase of sustainable innovations and low-carbon energy technologies, reflecting Midea's ongoing dedication not only to advanced Research and Development capabilities but also to long-term environmental responsibility in the HVAC (Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning) sector.

Pioneering Solutions for a Greener Planet with R290

Central to Midea's presentation were its solutions utilizing refrigerant R290, which the company has promoted for over 15 years. Since the launch of the world's first R290 demonstration production line in cooperation with the United Nations in 2010, Midea has emerged as a leader in the global adoption of this eco-friendly refrigerant. Today, the company operates 12 advanced manufacturing lines for R290, boasting an annual capacity of 6.4 million units. This extensive practical application has correspondingly resulted in measurable reductions in carbon emissions worldwide.

Midea has played an active role in shaping international refrigerant standards and has accelerated the usage of natural refrigerant R290 throughout the industry. Backed by over 10,000 research and development professionals and 42 pilot laboratories, Midea provides a comprehensive portfolio of products utilizing R290. A highlight is the H-Pack hybrid heat pump designed by Midea's European research and design team. Utilizing R290, it combines high energy efficiency with a compact design, eliminating the need for an outdoor unit. Its hybrid function allows seamless integration with gas boilers, ensuring reliable heating even in extreme cold.

Raynor: A Low-Temperature Air-to-Air Heat Pump

Another focal point was the Raynor model, Midea's flagship low-temperature air-to-air heat pump. Rated A+++, with a peak SCOP of 5.1, it stands among the most efficient heat pumps on the market. Prototype testing confirms its reliable operation at temperatures as low as -40 °C, maintaining full heating capacity of 5.0 kW at -25 °C and peaking at 8.0 kW.

Designed for exceptional resilience and efficiency, Raynor is tailored for challenging conditions in northern coastal regions. Its advanced freeze and corrosion protection features Prime Guard Hyper Graphins, a specially designed chassis with a heated base plate, and long-lasting ceramic ball bearings with Flash Defrost, assuring reliable performance in extreme cold and dampness. This blend of durability, efficiency, and design innovation has won Raynor accolades, including the iF Design Award and the Red Dot Design Award. During IFA 2025, Leif Lindner, CEO of IFA Management, presented a gold award for outstanding heating technology innovation to Vincent Chou, VP of Midea Residential Air Conditioning, and Ralph Kobsik, CEO of Midea Europe GmbH, further highlighting Raynor's leadership in next-generation heating solutions.

Solstice: AI-Enhanced Comfort

The AI-powered Solstice air conditioning unit features a 180° rotating airflow deflector, delicately balancing air circulation for unmatched comfort. With rapid cooling and heating capabilities, it meets the everyday needs of users. At the heart of Solstice is Midea's latest AI system, ECOMASTER. Trained on billions of data points, ECOMASTER predicts environmental changes and optimizes energy consumption with remarkable precision, enabling Solstice to maintain accurate comfort levels within ±0.3 °C while reducing energy consumption by over 30%.

Midea announced its plan to collaborate with Microsoft to collectively offer natural voice control capabilities through AI. This technology, powered by the Microsoft Azure platform, would allow users across 145 supported languages to interact with their air conditioners using natural speech.

Conclusion: Commitment to a Sustainable Future

Midea's presentation at IFA 2025 exemplified its pledge to sustainable living. By combining advanced engineering, outstanding design, and market insight, the company aims to lead the transition to a low-carbon economy. Midea continues to deliver energy-efficient solutions that balance environmental responsibility with everyday comfort.
