Introducing 'Chamonix of Dreams'
MOUNTAIN MARTIAL ARTS (MMA), known for its high-performance running apparel, has embarked on an ambitious project titled
'Chamonix of Dreams'. This long-term initiative aims to prepare four selected trail runners for the prestigious Ultra-Trail du Mont-Blanc (UTMB) in 2027, the pinnacle of trail running competitions. The project emphasizes not only training and preparation but also the continuous development of apparel and gear tailored for challenging races.
The four trail runners selected through a public application process will undergo a year-long journey supported by MMA. This project will highlight their experiences and development steps, allowing fans to engage with their challenges through various content formats, primarily via the MMA official YouTube channel, along with social media and online platforms.
The Road to UTMB
Through
'Chamonix of Dreams', MMA will assist the selected runners in their pursuit of completing the UTMB, one of the most grueling 100-mile trail races globally. The project will not only showcase their physical training but also document their emotional and psychological preparation throughout the year leading up to the event. This integrated storytelling approach aims to present the entire journey of the runners rather than just focusing on the final results.
The project also marks a significant return to Chamonix, France, an iconic location for trail running and the birthplace of MMA. The brand's director, Yuichi Shibui, was inspired to start trail running after watching a documentary about UTMB in 2010. Visiting Chamonix for the first time in 2012 to race in the CCC (Courmayeur – Champex – Chamonix), Shibui became deeply connected to the trail running culture. Thus, this project not only highlights personal growth but also strengthens the bond between the brand and its roots.
Collaborating for Gear Development
In addition to training and mentorship, a significant focus of the
'Chamonix of Dreams' project is the development of running apparel and gear. MMA has a strong history of partnering with trusted material manufacturers such as POLARTEC® and PERTEX® to create high-performance products. For this project, feedback from the participating runners will play a crucial role in developing new apparel that meets the demands of long-distance trail running. The collaboration aims to merge the runners' insights and experiences with MMA's innovation, creating gear that represents both functionality and style.
Journey Beyond the Race
MMA envisions
'Chamonix of Dreams' as more than just a preparation for the UTMB; it is about fostering a community around the passion for trail running. The project focuses on sharing experiences, lessons learned, and the culture of trail running as a lifestyle. The knowledge from participants will be documented not only to provide accountability but also to inspire others who wish to embark on their own trail running journeys.
Through various outreach methods—whether it be consulting workshops with seasoned runners, training sessions with professional coaches, or simply sharing day-to-day training updates—the project seeks to make the whole process transparent and engaging. The community can follow along, celebrate victories, and learn from setbacks through the ongoing content release.
A Partnership for Promotion
MMA has partnered with Polychrome Corporation, a PR agency specialized in optimizing public relations strategies. They will work jointly to manage communication efforts and promote the project across different platforms. This partnership will help ensure that the essence of
'Chamonix of Dreams' resonates broadly, advocating for the values of trail running while connecting with audiences on a deeper level.
