Announcing the 5th Annual Tamron Photo Contest 2026



Tamron Co., Ltd., a comprehensive optical equipment manufacturer based in Saitama City, is excited to unveil its 5th Annual Tamron Photography Contest for 2026. This contest aims to foster a love for photography among all enthusiasts, encouraging everyone to capture beautiful moments.

About the Tamron Photo Contest


The Tamron Photo Contest welcomes submissions from all photographers using interchangeable lens cameras, regardless of the brand or model. Participants can choose from two categories:
1. General Category: Accepts a wide range of photographs across various themes and genres.
2. Macro Category: Focuses specifically on photographs captured using macro lenses.

This year's contest introduces a new U-25 Award to support the fresh perspectives of photographers aged 25 and under. Additionally, the prestigious Tamron Award has been elevated to a significant award within the contest.

Contest Timeline


  • - Submission Period: July 6, 2026 (Monday) to September 14, 2026 (Monday)

Submission Guidelines


Photographers can submit up to 10 photos for each of the two categories (a total of 20 submissions maximum). All photographs can be edited, and participants must indicate any retouching done in the application forms. Note that each submission must consist of a single photo.

Categories to Submit:


  • - General Category: Open to various types of images without restrictions on themes, lenses, or genres.
  • - Macro Category: Exclusively for photos taken with macro lenses, with submissions from other types of lenses (like zoom lenses) being disqualified from this category.

Judging Panel


  • - General Category: Judged by Daisuke Kumaki, an established photographer with extensive experience in political and sports photography, and a current president of the Japan Photographers Association.
  • - Macro Category: Judged by Reiko Hagiwara, a photographer known for her stunning nature landscapes and member of the Japan Landscape Photographers Association.

  • - Gold Award: 1 winner, ¥80,000 + Tamron lens
  • - Silver Award: 1 winner, ¥50,000
  • - Tamron Award: 1 winner, ¥50,000
  • - Bronze Awards: 2 winners, ¥20,000 each
  • - Honorable Mentions: 2 recipients, ¥10,000 each
  • - U-25 Awards: 2 winners, ¥10,000 each

Macro Category


  • - Gold Award: 1 winner, ¥80,000 + Tamron lens
  • - Silver Award: 1 winner, ¥50,000
  • - Tamron Award: 1 winner, ¥50,000
  • - Bronze Awards: 2 winners, ¥20,000 each

Note: The Tamron Award will be given to works taken with Tamron lenses, and U-25 Awards will be for entries submitted by photographers aged 25 or under as of September 14, 2026.

Announcements


Winners will be notified directly in mid-October 2026. The results will also be published on Tamron's website by late November 2026.
