Comprehensive Support for Digital Transformation in Tokyo's SMEs

The Tokyo Metropolitan Government, along with the Tokyo Small and Medium Enterprise Promotion Corporation, is committed to enhancing productivity within local small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). As part of their initiative for the fiscal year 2023, a new program titled "Comprehensive Support for Digital Transformation" has been launched to help these businesses leverage digital technologies, thereby strengthening their competitiveness and creating a sustainable environment for wage increases.

Overview of the Productivity Improvement Course

This course aims to bolster the productivity of SMEs in Tokyo by providing expert guidance and financial assistance for the adoption and utilization of digital technologies. The initiative includes two primary components:

1. Advisory Dispatch

Expert advisors will conduct on-site visits to identify the specific challenges faced by each SME. This tailored approach allows for the formulation of a support strategy that encompasses everything from digital technology evaluation to implementation and post-implementation support.

Support Details:

• - Dedicated advisors will assist with the introduction and effective utilization of digital technologies to enhance overall productivity.
• - Target Audience: SMEs located primarily in Tokyo.
• - First-Round Support Scope: Approximately 130 enterprises.

2. Grants

Following the advisory visits, SMEs eligible for the program will receive financial assistance based on the contents of a proposal prepared by the advisor. This funding will cover a portion of the necessary expenses for adopting and utilizing digital technologies.

Note: The preparation of the advisor's proposal may take some time.

Grant Limits

• - Standard Funding Limit: 15 million yen
• - Enhanced Wage Increase Limit: 20 million yen
• - Funding Ratio:

- Standard: Up to 50% (up to 66.67% for small-scale operations)
- Wage Increase Plan: Up to 75% (up to 80% for small-scale operations)

• - Grant Duration: 2 years
