Randolph-Macon Academy Shines at Royal Celebration for King Charles III and Queen Camilla

In a spectacular display of community spirit and tradition, Randolph-Macon Academy (R-MA), a prestigious college preparatory school located in Front Royal, Virginia, recently honored King Charles III and Queen Camilla during their U.S. state visit. The celebration, held on May 2, 2026, featured a magnificent parade, underscoring the importance of leadership and the rich heritage that R-MA instills in its students.

A Grand Celebration

Set against the breathtaking backdrop of the Blue Ridge Mountains, the Royal Party welcomed dignitaries, locals, and school representatives to an event filled with excitement and pride. The celebration was organized by the city of Front Royal and was marked by a vibrant combination of ceremony and music, led by R-MA’s recognized band and their color guard. This performance not only highlighted the skills of R-MA cadets but also showcased the collaborative spirit of the community, as students from Skyline High School and Warren County High School joined the festivities.

Lucy Hooper, Chair of the R-MA Board of Trustees, emphasized the significance of this occasion, stating, "Randolph-Macon Academy stands at the intersection of history, leadership, and opportunity. Hosting Their Majesties in an environment that celebrates service and academic excellence was a privilege and a monumental moment for us, our city, and our region."

Student Reflections

The cadets of R-MA expressed profound honor and excitement at having performed for the royal couple. Cadet Colonel Rania Husted '26, the regimental commander, shared her sentiments: "I feel incredibly honored that R-MA participated in such a historical event. I am proud of my fellow cadets whose hard work and dedication were on full display. Our performance aimed to reflect the pride of our Front Royal community."

Sargeant Major Bijou Kebbay '27 also recalled the nervousness felt prior to performing, acknowledging the significance of the event. "Everyone was understandably nervous; after all, it was the King and Queen of the United Kingdom! However, it was incredible to witness how we came together to support one another. Everyone truly shined."
