A Background Rich in Experience
Pedersen, who roots his upbringing in Puyallup, Washington, has cultivated a diverse career marked by both political and legal expertise. After earning his undergraduate degrees in Russian and History from Yale College and later graduating from Yale Law School, he clerked for the U.S. Court of Appeals before stepping into corporate law. From 1995 until 2012, he worked at the law firm Preston Gates Ellis, now known as K&L Gates, navigating various corporate legal challenges.
His political venture began in 2006 when he was elected to the Washington State House of Representatives, where he championed several crucial legislative initiatives as Chair of the House Judiciary Committee. His leadership skill was recognized when he was appointed to the State Senate in 2013, where he has served multiple terms and held key positions, including Senate Majority Leader and chair of the Senate Law & Justice Committee.
