Tokyo Denki University (TDU), led by President Tadao Iba, continues to inspire elementary and middle school students interested in science through its experiential workshop series, the "D-SciTech Program—For Future Engineers." Now entering its fourth year, the program has garnered significant interest and positive feedback, prompting the launch of a new lineup of workshops for the second half of the academic year.

The upcoming series, scheduled from October 2026 to March 2027, will feature a total of eight workshops held across three different campuses: six at the Tokyo Senju Campus (Adachi City, Tokyo), and one each at the Saitama Hatoyama Campus (Hiki District, Saitama) and the Tokyo Koganei Campus (Tokyo Koganei City).

The D-SciTech Program will offer five engaging workshops led by TDU faculty and students, including a Robotics Workshop, Science Experiment Workshop, and Children's Light Science Workshop. In the Robotics class, students will build and fly models of flapping airplanes, gaining insights into the mechanics of flight employed by birds and insects.

Notably, the Science Experiment Workshop will be exclusively for elementary school girls this year. In collaboration with the TDU organization "Den-Dai Girls," participants will engage in making bath bombs, showcasing a commitment to promoting STEM among young women. Since its inception in February 2014, Den-Dai Girls has fostered a community among female engineering students and aimed at highlighting their achievements and the enjoyment of studying engineering.

In addition to novice workshops, the program will also host three collaborative courses featuring expert engineers from partner companies. These offerings include a course focused on resource circulation, where participants will design tumblers using recycled materials (in cooperation with Asahi Yuasu Co., Ltd.), a hands-on computer assembly course (with ASUS Japan Co., Ltd.), and a 3D printing workshop to create custom-designed keychains (with Otetemo Co., Ltd.).

The D-SciTech Program aims to nurture a love for science and engineering among participants, encouraging them to pursue the dream of becoming engineers. The workshops are designed to engage students in hands-on activities, allowing for practical learning experiences that deepen their understanding of scientific principles.

Tokyo Denki University's commitment to regional collaboration emphasizes the importance of community connection and engagement. The D-SciTech Program is part of TDU's broader objective to promote hands-on education in manufacturing, helping children explore the excitement of creation while instilling curiosity about the world around them.

Through various initiatives, TDU continues to host numerous electronic and scientific experiment workshops for elementary and middle school students.
