BLUETTI and UN-Habitat's New Initiative in Nigeria

In a significant step toward promoting clean energy access, the global clean energy leader, BLUETTI, has teamed up once again with the United Nations Human Settlements Programme (UN-Habitat). Their collaborative efforts marked the second phase of the 'Lighting An African Family' (LAAF) initiative in Nigeria, which took place from September 7 to 10, 2026. This initiative follows the successful inaugural collaboration in Kenya back in 2025, showcasing both organizations' dedication to fostering sustainable energy solutions for vulnerable communities across Africa.

As part of this initiative, BLUETTI hosted a two-day workshop on solar energy at Rev. Fr. Orshio Adasu University located in Makurdi, Benue State. This engaging session was aimed at teaching essential concepts of solar energy along with practical applications. Participants had the opportunity to work with solar technology firsthand, a crucial aspect of understanding and leveraging renewable energy sources.

In alignment with the workshop, BLUETTI provided 50 PB200 Solar Lighting and Storage Kits, ensuring that attendees were equipped with the tools necessary for hands-on learning. Furthermore, they inaugurated the Campus Ambassador Programme, an effort to expand awareness of clean energy and its benefits throughout educational institutions and nearby communities.

The initiative's outreach didn't stop there. In Guma Local Government Area, particularly in Yelwata, where electricity access is notably deficient, BLUETTI distributed an additional 180 solar kits to households led by women or elderly residents. This generous contribution has positively impacted more than 1,000 individuals, enabling households to gain consistent and reliable electricity. This access not only helps families meet basic daily needs but also enhances opportunities for education, communication, and community growth.

James Ray, a spokesperson for BLUETTI, expressed pride in the collaboration, stating, "It is an honor to once again join hands with UN-Habitat. This initiative has expanded from East Africa to West Africa, reflecting our shared commitment to advancing access to clean energy across more communities in Africa."

To date, the LAAF initiative has touched the lives of over 60,000 individuals across the African continent, fostering improvements in living standards and social well-being. Both BLUETTI and UN-Habitat are committed to sustaining this partnership, aiming to implement more clean energy solutions in various African nations while generating substantial social and environmental benefits. Their collaborative efforts are projected to reduce approximately 337.5 tons of carbon emissions over the next five years, contributing to the creation of more resilient and sustainable communities.
