The Upcoming Theater Play 'Even The Great Raven' by Pokopoko Club: A Last Performance

Upcoming Theater Production 'Even The Great Raven'

Pokopoko Club is set to present the second installment of its timeless masterpiece series, 'Even The Great Raven', from October 21 to 25, 2026, at the Asagaya Arsee in Tokyo, Japan. Tickets are currently available for advance purchase via Confetti, managed by Long Run Planning Co., Ltd.

This production marks a significant moment as it showcases the final collaboration of the founding trio: Mikami Haruka, Sugiura Kazuki, and Watanabe Yoshihiro, who have shared the stage for over 13 years. Watanabe, who has been integral to the club since its inception, will depart post-performance, making this a poignant farewell.

The play is a masterwork by renowned contemporary playwright Juichiro Takeuchi, directed by Eiichi Nishizawa, who is known for his work with various theater companies. The narrative delves into the complexities of human communication, exploring how misunderstandings can hinder genuine connections. The line from the play, 'Words do not reach. Yet, people cannot part,' encapsulates its essence, tackling themes of absurdity and loneliness through the lens of human interaction.

The unique camaraderie shared by the three performers reflects the clumsy men depicted in the script—a blend of friendship and brotherhood. Their tumultuous journey together, filled with laughter and conflict, has culminated in their selection of this final piece. It promises a heartfelt tribute to their enduring relationships on and off the stage.

Since its establishment in 2013, Pokopoko Club has championed the notion that theater serves as a bridge connecting people and communities. The trio, emerging from the 'Kikou Theater Company,' aims to create works that resonate with local communities, offering workshops and participatory projects that engage a diverse audience.

The company has been recognized domestically and internationally, participating in Korean-Japanese theater exchange programs and artist residencies in cities such as Uchiko and Aomori. Their commitment to creating art that dialogues with local contexts has fostered connections across various demographics.

The 'Timeless Masterpiece Series' was initiated to reinterpret significant works of contemporary Japanese theater, with 'Even The Great Raven' being the second production. This performance signifies a pivotal moment for the trio as they conclude their shared story of artistry with this impactful play.
