Sir Jimmy Anderson Celebrates DP World's Support for Grassroots Cricket at Lord's

Sir Jimmy Anderson Celebrates DP World's Commitment to Cricket

On June 10, 2025, a significant event unfolded at the iconic Lord's Cricket Ground in London, where England cricket legend Sir Jimmy Anderson joined forces with global logistics company DP World to launch the Beyond Boundaries Initiative. This program is designed to uplift grassroots cricket, making the sport more accessible to young players across the United Kingdom.

A Milestone for DP World

Rashid Abdulla, CEO and MD of DP World Europe, remarked on the importance of bringing the Beyond Boundaries Initiative to Europe for the first time. He highlighted how the collaboration with the International Cricket Council (ICC) and the MCC Foundation would help expand access to cricket by supporting grassroots facilities throughout the region.

As part of this initiative, DP World has coordinated the delivery of 250 cricket kits housed in a repurposed shipping container. These kits, which include a bat, pads, gloves, and a helmet, will be distributed to schools across the UK. This effort coincides perfectly with the ICC World Test Championship Final, for which DP World is serving as a global logistics partner.

Significance of the Support

Sir Jimmy Anderson expressed his excitement about the initiative's reach, noting that the support from ICC's partner is extending to grassroots sports worldwide. He emphasized that access and opportunities are crucial for students interested in cricket, making DP World’s provision of kits to schools a remarkable step forward.

The initiative is set to continue its impact during the upcoming Test series between South Africa and Australia, with a 'Kit for Run' program that has been implemented during all major ICC tournaments since the program’s inception. Anderson's response reflects a shared commitment to fostering the next generation of cricket players at the grassroots level.

Broadening Horizons

Anurag Dahiya, the Chief Commercial Officer of the ICC, underscored the authentic nature of the partnership with DP World, calling it a valuable contribution at the grassroots level. He noted the positive impact the Beyond Boundaries Initiative has had in locations like New York and Namibia, further establishing its success and significance in the heart of cricket's tradition.

Angus Berry, Director of Operations for the MCC Foundation, also shared his enthusiasm regarding the partnership. He stated that they feel a strong responsibility for grassroots cricket in the UK and beyond. The collaboration with DP World is particularly timely, arriving just before the ICC World Test Championship Final at Lord's, and reinforces their dedication to creating access and opportunities for young cricketers.

Impressive Achievements

Since its inception, the Beyond Boundaries Initiative has made remarkable strides—delivering twelve reused shipping containers, distributing 3,000 cricket kits, and activating programs across eight countries on four continents. This initiative has empowered over 15,000 young people, providing them with the opportunity to play cricket and engage in the sport they love.

This moment at Lord's not only celebrates the noble efforts of DP World but also represents a rejuvenation of grassroots cricket, igniting hopes and dreams for the budding players of tomorrow. By investing in these young athletes, DP World and its partners are paving the way for a brighter future for cricket on an international scale.
