Ink Films Secures U.S. Distribution Rights for DJ Ahmet

November 25, 2025 — Las Vegas

Ink Films, the distribution faction of The Beverly Theater, has announced its acquisition of the U.S. theatrical rights for the critically celebrated feature film DJ Ahmet. This coming-of-age drama originates from the creative mind of Macedonian filmmaker Georgi M. Unkovski and has won prestigious accolades at the Sundance Film Festival, including the World Cinema Dramatic Audience Award and the Special Jury Award for Creative Vision. The film is scheduled for a nationwide theatrical debut in early 2026.

DJ Ahmet tells the poignant story of a 15-year-old boy navigating the complexities of youthful aspirations against the backdrop of cultural expectations and familial pressures in a quaint Yuruk village in North Macedonia. Music serves as his sanctuary, providing an escape from societal constraints and heartache, as he embarks on a journey toward self-discovery. This narrative resonates universally, encapsulating the age-old struggle of finding one's unique voice in a conformist world.

The film is produced by Cinema Futura in North Macedonia, with additional collaborations from production partners located in the Czech Republic, Serbia, and Croatia. Producers Ivan Unkovski and Ivana Shekutkoska have been lauded for crafting an authentic tale enriched with emotive storytelling and performances that bring the struggles of adolescence to life.

Rory Reid, CEO of The Rogers Foundation, which oversees The Beverly Theater and Ink Films, highlights the importance of empowering storytellers: "The Rogers Foundation exists to transform lives through arts and education. Ink Films shares this mission by acquiring meaningful and artistically bold films like DJ Ahmet. Our commitment to amplify powerful narratives and provide visionary creators a platform to inspire audiences is evident in this acquisition."

Kip Kelly, the Founding CXO of Ink Films and The Beverly Theater, echoed Reid's sentiments, stating that DJ Ahmet exemplifies the kind of artist-driven storytelling that resonates with audiences. "At Ink Films, we believe that stories reflecting the universal human need for self-expression deserve to grace our theaters. This film showcases how art and music can be both a refuge and a catalyst for change. We are excited to offer U.S. audiences the opportunity to experience this important narrative on the big screen."
