Revolutionary Metal Balance Test Introduced for Cancer and MCI Risk Evaluation in Tokyo

In an innovative leap for preventive healthcare, Renatech, based in Kanagawa, has launched the Metal Balance Test at the Tokyo Harajuku Clinic. This groundbreaking screening test assesses the risk of cancer and Mild Cognitive Impairment (MCI) using only a minimal blood sample of 6mL. Appointments are now available for October 16 and November 20, 2023, marking a significant advancement in the local health management landscape.

Understanding the Metal Balance Test

The Metal Balance Test analyzes the concentrations of 17 trace elements found in the blood to objectively evaluate the current risk of developing cancer and MCI. This risk screening process is aimed at ensuring early detection and fostering better health management practices.

Features of the Metal Balance Test

  • - Minimal Blood Draw: The test requires just one visit for a quick blood draw under medically supervised conditions, taking around 15 minutes, which minimizes the discomfort typically associated with blood tests.
  • - Detailed Cancer Risk Assessment: The screening evaluates the risk of various types of cancer based on the gender of the applicant. For men, it covers lung, stomach, liver, pancreatic, colorectal, and prostate cancers, while for women, it encompasses lung, stomach, liver, pancreatic, colorectal, breast, cervical, uterine, and ovarian cancers.
  • - Comprehensive Cognitive Risk Evaluation: Beyond Alzheimer's, the test also examines other types of cognitive impairments, ensuring a thorough assessment of MCI risk.

Proven Research and Recognized Achievements

Backed by substantial research funding from Japan's Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry, Renatech partnered with Kanagawa and Chiba Cancer Centers to develop this test, which has gained recognition in nine countries and has served over 100,000 individuals since its inception in April 2019.

Application Process for the Test

Individuals interested in the Metal Balance Test must complete their application approximately three weeks in advance due to necessary document processing. Applications can be made online or via phone, and test materials will be delivered a week before the appointment.

On test day, participants will experience a streamlined process due to the appointment-only system, ensuring a smooth experience and avoiding unnecessary waits. Results will be sent out approximately three weeks after testing, enabling timely follow-ups.

Important Pre-Test Considerations

For reliable results, participants should refrain from eating and drinking alcohol after 9 PM the night before the test and are encouraged to stay hydrated. Additionally, OTC medications and supplements should not be taken in the days leading up to the test.

Pricing of the Test

The Metal Balance Test is a self-paying medical service, with prices set at:
  • - Cancer Risk Test: ¥19,800
  • - MCI Risk Test: ¥19,800
  • - Combined Cancer and MCI Risk Test: ¥24,200

These costs do not allow for health insurance coverage, and payments are processed post-testing via a prepaid billing system.

Target Demographics and Important Restrictions

While this test primarily targets Japanese individuals aged 20 to 80 for cancer risk and those aged 50 to 80 for MCI risk, testing may be available for others; however, results will be interpretated as reference values only.

Certain individuals, including those who are pregnant, undergoing cancer treatment, on dialysis, or experiencing certain health conditions, are advised not to participate in this testing for their safety.

Clinic Information

Scheduled for once a month, excluding holidays, the Metal Balance Tests will be conducted at the Tokyo Harajuku Clinic, easily accessible via various train stations. Interested parties can view the latest testing dates and make their reservations through the dedicated web page: Metal Balance Test Reservations.

Renatech, known for its commitment to developing innovative health solutions, aims to expand these preventive screenings in collaboration with various medical institutions across Japan, enhancing public access to modern health management tools.
