Collaboration Between Duskin and Lawson for OSAKA Zero Waste Project Cleaning Activity

Joint Clean-Up Initiative for OSAKA Zero Waste Project

On May 29, 2026, a collaborative clean-up event will take place around Esaka Station in Osaka, led by Duskin Co., Ltd. and Lawson, Inc., as part of the OSAKA Zero Waste Project promoted by Osaka Prefecture. This event coincides with the day before '530 (Waste Zero) Day' and aims to contribute to local beautification and environmental protection.

Duskin, headquartered in Suita, Osaka, has been committed to various community initiatives since 2006. Through its program, "Clean Up My Town," the company has engaged the local community in regular cleaning activities. In recent years, Duskin has partnered with Lawson, located in Shinagawa, Tokyo, to enhance efforts in various key areas, including environment, children's welfare, safety, and public relations. This agreement has enabled both companies to collaborate more effectively, leading to their active participation in the OSAKA Zero Waste Project, which seeks to create a cleaner Osaka ahead of significant events like the 2025 Osaka-Kansai Expo and the 2026 National Rich Sea Creation Conference.

The OSAKA Zero Waste Project employs a collaborative approach, engaging communities, corporations, and local governments in efforts to reduce waste and promote cleanliness across the region. By fostering strong community ties and commitment, the initiative aspires to make Osaka's streets, rivers, and seas free of litter, reflecting a shared responsibility towards environmental stewardship.

The upcoming clean-up event is anticipated to involve not just corporate employees from Duskin and Lawson but also local citizens from Suita city and participants from the Esaka Council. The collaboration exemplifies how private entities can work together to enhance their community. This partnership showcases a strong model for community engagement, encouraging broader participation from local businesses and residents alike.

On the day of the event, participants will gather at the Duskin headquarters building, allowing for a unified start to the cleaning operation. This initiative is an extension of Duskin’s ongoing commitment to environmental sustainability and has been recognized by Osaka Prefecture with a commendation for its contributions to continuous beautification efforts in the area, which will include four clean-up activities planned for 2025.

Both companies plan to raise awareness around waste reduction and environmental protection through this event and similar initiatives, promoting behaviors that lead to a sustainable and clean environment. The OSAKA Zero Waste Project is part of a larger strategy aimed at leveraging the forthcoming international expos to catalyze local action towards achieving a cleaner and more sustainable Osaka.
