HCLTech Strengthens Telecommunications Offerings with HPE Acquisition
HCLTech, a prominent global technology company, has signed an agreement to acquire the Telco Solutions division from Hewlett Packard Enterprise (HPE), solidifying its leading edge in the telecommunications industry. This strategic acquisition enhances HCLTech's portfolio by bringing in exceptional intellectual property (IP), product engineering talent, and established customer relationships with major global communication service providers (CSPs).
The Telco Solutions business currently supports over one billion devices worldwide through its innovative solutions, contributing to more than 200 deployments globally. The suite of services includes operations support systems (OSS), home subscriber servers (HSS), and 5G subscriber data management (SDM), all underpinned by advanced AI-driven network automation for seamless network monetization.
Previously, Telco Solutions was part of HPE’s Communications Technology Group (CTG), from which HCLTech acquired certain assets back in 2024. The previously acquired CTG portfolio, which encompasses business support systems (BSS), network applications, service cloudification, and data intelligence, has been successfully integrated and is currently experiencing robust growth. This new acquisition builds upon that foundation, allowing HCLTech to accelerate advancements toward network transformation, Network-as-a-Service (NaaS), and autonomous AI-driven networks.
Around 1,500 engineers and telecommunications specialists across 39 countries will join HCLTech's global delivery team as part of this agreement, contributing to the company's growth and expansion objectives. Anil Ganjoo, HCLTech’s Global Head of Telecommunications, Media, Publishing, Entertainment, and Technology (TMT), expressed great enthusiasm regarding the acquisition.
“We are tremendously excited about this opportunity, as HCLTech is particularly well-positioned to enable CSPs to transform into true technology enterprises, facilitating the shift from telecom companies to tech companies,” Ganjoo stated. “The integration of this highly skilled HPE team and its proven market IP enhances our product-aligned model and propels us towards high-value, IP-focused services and non-linear growth.”
Rami Rahim, Executive Vice President and General Manager of HPE’s Networking Division, echoed this sentiment:
“HCLTech has a compelling vision to leverage the momentum of the Telco Solutions business and the success of its clients to accelerate innovation and client impact. This transaction will benefit CSPs for many years to come, as HPE and HCLTech continue their unique and differentiated approaches to supporting this vital market sector through strategic focus and a commitment to innovation.”
This acquisition is subject to regulatory approvals and customary closing conditions, with an expected completion timeframe of approximately six months.
