Experience Nature and Aromatic Serenity at the New Planetarium Show
The Konica Minolta Planetarium in Tokyo is set to unveil an immersive experience titled
'Hokkaido Healing: Under the Same Starry Sky' on
June 6, 2025. This newly developed show will transport audiences away from the hustle of city life to the tranquil surroundings of Hokkaido's magnificent nature. The screenings will occur at three select venues, starting with
Planetarium Tenku (Oshiage), followed by
Planetaria TOKYO (Yurakucho) on June 20, and
Planetarium Manten (Ikebukuro) on July 18.
Nature's Majestic Themes
The narrative unfolds in some of the most pristine natural landscapes of Hokkaido, including the expansive
Kushiro Wetlands, Japan's largest marshland, and the
Shiretoko Peninsula, recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage site. Attendees will become immersed in the sights and sounds of wildlife such as
Ezo deer,
Blakiston's fish owl, and
brown bears, all blending harmoniously with the gentle whispers of flowing waters and rustling leaves. The show promises to be a sensory journey beneath a stunning starry sky, offering solace and peace to its viewers.
A Showcase of Hokkaido's Celestial Wonders
In addition to its natural forests and wetlands, Hokkaido is known for its breathtaking stargazing opportunities. The show will highlight various astronomical phenomena unique to the region, including the ethereal beauty of meteors and the rare sight of
auroras, which have been increasingly spotted in recent years. Audiences will also discover constellations deeply rooted in Ainu folklore, showcasing the interconnectedness of nature and mythology.
Aromatherapy to Enhance Healing
To further enrich the experience, the planetarium will feature two distinct, specially formulated aromas. Guests can indulge in the calming scents tailored to reflect Hokkaido's natural environment:
- - North Forest: A refreshing blend of Japanese white cedar, Hokkaido fir, and mint, infused with the sweet scent of fallen leaves from a beech tree. This aroma evokes the strength and delicacy of the towering trees of Hokkaido.
- - North Animals: Capturing the wetlands' essence, this fragrance combines herbal and white floral notes with a leather undertone, embodying the presence of the wildlife thriving in Hokkaido's rich ecosystems.
Narration by Acclaimed Actress Mikako Tabe
The narration for this enchanting journey will be provided by the talented Japanese actress
Mikako Tabe, known for her expressive voice. Her soothing narration will enhance the experience as viewers gaze at the stars, allowing for a moment of reflection and tranquility.
